They didn't get screwed. They won the national championship and were considered national champions by the overwhelming majority of selectors. Just because a fan of a team that didn't start playing serious football until the 90's disagrees doesn't make him right.

The NCAA disagrees, but whatever.

The NCAA's opinion will matter when they start awarding national championships.

So I guess I should take your word over the NCAA then?

I feel like we deserved to win the NC after the tornado, the AD death, etc. It was a tough year for Alabama residents, not only those who are Alabama fans.

This is stupid. I didn't think LSU deserved an NC after Gustav. I don't know anyone who did or ever heard that said. It's football, nothing more.

Take the word of whoever you want. But saying Tennessee wasn't the national champion in 1938 would be like saying LSU wasn't the champion in 2003 if people only pay attention to the AP poll in 50 years.

Agreed. I think Alabama as a state deserved something positive after the terrible year, but I won't say we deserved a NC after the tornado. We aren't the only town with a CFB team to ever get hit by a tornado

I think Vols basketball fans deserve success. And by that, I mean fans that were paying attention to the team long before Pearl ever arrived in Knoxville. They've put up with a lot of losing and stupidity among the fan base. I think they'll be rewarded soon enough.

Except LSU is recognized as champions in 03. 38 UT not so much...

And before anyone brings it up, I feel the same about Saints fans that played the Katrina card in 2009. Not the reopening of the dome against ATL. That was a totally different kind of thing, a reopening of New Orleans basically, but the Saints winning the Super Bowl didn't solve any of the city's problems. Perspective needs to be kept.

I'm willing to bet you don't know a damn thing about which polls/ranking services were considered legitimate that long ago.

Theres a difference between saying "hey, here's something positive for NO or Tuscaloosa. Y'all should be happy" and saying something like "You got hit by a tornado/hurricane. Because of that you deserve to win a NC/Super Bowl."

I think the tornado may have given the team some extra motivation for the season, but to say a team deserves a championship because of a disaster makes it sound like they were the only ones affected by it.

It doesn't matter if I do or don't.
It does, however, matter for the NCAA, since, you know, it's NCAA football.

The NCAA does not award national championships in football, it's not that hard to grasp. What they list or don't list is irrelevant.

The NCAA did not even exist for all of the years listed on that site.
