Well, yes the 4 Rose Bowl wins (under Thomas or Wade, I can't remember) is a big accomplishment, especially at a time when CFB in the south was regional and Tide was first to venture out with success. I think it's the claiming it as NC's at a time when judgement was rendered basically on box score printouts is the issue.
