No fan of an SEC team actually wanted Texas. It's all about $$$

I wouldn't confuse the shorthorn fools over here with what Austin knows about the SEC. They are losing their Network to make this move. It took humility to ask to come to someone else's conference because they couldn't make it where they were.

Big business keeps the big picture in mind. They chose wisely, win, lose, or draw.

I agree with that. However big boosters run the Texas athletic department. They think because they donate huge amounts of money to the program they should have a say. It is what has held Texas back.

I mean, no, but to be fair this could have come from a number of schools.

Texas is a massive money pit. It would be very dumb to not take them.

So it's your opinion that the SEC might not survive without Texas?

In a vacuum, no that is not what I am saying, and I almost included something along these lines in the original message.

What I meant:
Let’s say Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Virginia, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington & Colorado all joined the B1G in the next 5 years.

Idk what the future holds, but that’s a ginormous contract for each team. Let’s assume it is $150 million per team, per year. Maybe it is more, maybe it is less.

Let’s also assume that the SEC contract is $100 million. The numbers don’t matter.. the point is, let’s assume there is a big difference. At this point, the poison is in the water.

In this example, that is a $1 billion dollar difference over a 20 year period. You can argue how much more money it would be.. maybe it isn’t that much.. but you can’t tell me that a huge number like that wouldn’t impact the actual sports being played.

NIL deals, Coaching salaries, etc.

Yes, the SEC is 100% a superior product right now across the board. But they weren’t the king like they are today 20 years ago. Things change.

Texas does not hold all of those cards. But Texas heading to B1G would have created a financial gap between the 2 that would have been hard to overcome. Perhaps the SEC lands Notre Dame at that point and it evens out. Perhaps AI takes over and makes football go away.

TLDR: Texas going to the SEC was good for everyone imo. You may not like us, but you will have fun beating us.. except when you don’t.. like in Tuscaloosa this September.

You seem to be an expert at sucking your own dick. Texas fan. Check.

You guys melting earlier than normal this year? You could go back to the Big 12, or you could take Missouri with you to the B1G.. both AAU schools.. the B1G would be happy with that deal.

Either way, I apologize for ruffling your feathers in April.. that’s my bad.

Worst decision the SEC has ever made. Will cause the break up of the SEC one day I believe

There was talk about one big conference(league) and that is still a possibility in the future. Will it be caused by Texas joining the SEC? No!

Every expansion move the SEC has made was done quite explicitly to increase the chances of landing Texas down the line. The plan was set in motion 30+ years ago. Sankey just happened to be the guy in charge when the shoe finally dropped.

That's BS. Man, you think waaaay to highly of yourselves. If texas was half as valuable to the conference as you think think they are the XII would be thriving. But, it's not and yall are latching on to the SEC for the bailout.

Texas A&M beat Texas to join the SEC when it was the right thing to do, and Texas is still struggling in the lowly Big 12! Now Texas will join the big boys conference next year.

The question is why are Texas and Oklahoma coming to the SEC next year and not staying put? Both Texas A&M and Missouri made the right move at the right time too. it is about getting comfortable with the new SEC teams. Texas and Oklahoma will have to make some adjustments and will need time to overcome the complexity of the SEC in general.
