Lost in the names on the front of the jersey is the fact that we only lost by 3 in BR last year with a team that went 5-7, that included a QB who didn't know WTF he was doing at that point, the worst DC in our schools history, and a completely crippled defensive secondary.

We also held Guice to under 4 yards per carry.

We lost very little, got a huge infusion of secondary talent from JUCO, and swapped our crap DC for a stud, while LSU picked up an Ogre. Game is at home this year, and is just the third game of the year, so LSU might not have all of the offensive kinks worked out. This is a thing that could definitely happen.

State is actually 2-23 against lsu in the past 25 years. It's that bad. Really only beat lsu 1 time bc the refs blew a horrible td call and gave them a game in starkville after we had stopped them on 4th and goal...they didn't have replay so we got fricked.

The way our players and fans approached this game was an enigma to me for years. Strangely, LSU was a game that MSU was ok with losing for a couple of periods in the last 25 years. I remember this because I was the only one I knew that got pissed off about it. MSU just expected to lose and LSU expected to win. The game was essentially lost before the kick, and it certainly showed on the field. It was the old MSU mentality that had to change.

Mullen slowly got us over many of those barriers, especially with Dak and the '14 victory. Even though we still don't approach this game like I would like, it's better now than it has been in a long arse time.

Eta- I'm not saying we would have evened the 25 year record in this series if we had given a frick, I'm simply saying, if we had, we wouldn't be 2-23.

Many of the games under Mullen have been close. We should have won it his second year with first and goal. Had a TE wide open to win it in the endzone but ball was delfected just enough to throw off his timing catch.

MSU never had QB's for many years. It's the one thing that is changing. Look at last years signee and this years commit. The only reason we have been in games with LSU now is because we aren't punting every 3 and out.

The last three years with State have been bleh as an LSU fan.

2014 - get blown out for three quarters and stomped on (frick Dillon Day

2015 - dominate the first quarter and win by MSU's kicker missing a FG after a delay of game

2016 - barely hold on to win

Yeah they've been strange games. If you are an Msu though, you like having a guy that can coach QB's. My gosh, I remember forever the LSU defense always knowing we were limited on offense and our defense stayed on the field all damn day. Then Lsu would start putting up huge points late 3rd Q and through entire 4th quarter. That was painful as shite.

I don't get where LSU thinks they are still power house. LSU was one of like 5 teams that has 4 losses. I know I'm mississippi state but damn. You're 2 thru 6 in the conference.

And Mississippi St is a consistent bottom feeder school.

Not to mention you were 6-7 last year. How embarrassing.

I'm not overlooking state this year. They will be much improved. Love their D.C. And that qb can be special once he becomes a more efficient passer.

I feel like our D will be night and day compared to last year. Our offense has lots and lots of potential. I do like our chances, especially at home.
