They won't until enough people cancel, outweighing their subscriber gains.
LOL if you think the SEC Network is a bigger deal than TWC. Also, they chose not to carry the Pac-12 Network. It's not far fetched to think they won't add it, considering they have Sunday Ticket. That is unless people exit in droves.

What is the big deal with the weather channel anyways? I don't get it. There are about a thousand places I can go to find out about the weather.

What does TWC offer that a laptop, local news and or TLC doesn't already provide?

The fact it's been a cable staple for decades. I don't watch anything weather related, but the fact is they are pretty consistent drawing viewership throughout the day.

I just like watching it when shite hits the fan. Hurricanes or Tornados, they are the best. Never turn it there other than that.

UPDATE:
Did a little research. Here is what I found:
quote:
Will DIRECTV carry the SEC Network?
We strongly believe every SEC fan should have access to the SEC Network on DIRECTV and customers can rest assured that is our goal as we continue our discussions with the owners of the channel. Contract talks happen on a different timetable with each TV provider, so unlike our competitors, we have really just begun our discussions and hope to have an update on status as we move closer to the network’s launch in August.
DirecTV, Inc.

In a statement on its website, DirecTV said it is looking out for its customers with regards to the Pac-12: “DirecTV wants to make Pac-12 Network available to the fans who want it. To do that, Pac 12 either needs to agree to a price to make it affordable for all of our customers, as we’ve offered and done with dozens of other sports networks, or allow Pac 12 fans to buy the network separately or purchase individual games on demand. Unfortunately, Pac 12 has refused all of these options. Regardless, we stand ready to agree to add the network if they propose a deal that’s fair.

Will DIRECTV carry The Longhorn Network?
DIRECTV has no current plans to carry The Longhorn Network. Many University of Texas football games can be found on ESPN or ABC. Please check your local listings for game availability.
DirecTV, Inc.
The question remains:
WILL THE frickING LONGHORNS TRY TO PIGGYBACK THEIR SHITTY, UNWATCHABLE ALBATROSS ON TO THE SEC NETWORK AS A FREE THROW-IN FOR DIRECTV SUBSCRIBERS???

Can't even give that shite away. Shitty, arrogant, stupid business people make shitty business partners. We are still dealing with their shitty business deals. Now the SEC is having to bail their asses out.

Well, at least they'd have FOX and CNN to go to. All my ideas are based off of nothing but I just figured DTV had more leverage with TWC because all it offers is available elsewhere where as the SECN has the largest following of all the college networks and provides a bunch of irreplaceable programing.
Yea, the P12N isn't on there but they got the B1G Network so it's not like they won't play ball. It'd help if more subscribers bitch so that DTV realizes it has less leverage when negotiating with the SECN. People offer up Sunday Ticket and say DTV doesn't need it but in that case they wouldn't need Extra Innings either. Idk, it's mostly wishful thinking but I'd think DTV ends up getting it but it wouldn't blow me away if they didn't. Just piss me off.

I thought they would be a little pissed that the SECN comes at a minor cost to each of them because ESPN is throwing that POS in with the rest. Maybe they don't care. Who knows?

Yeah I agree with the premise, but TWC has nation-wide ingrained name recognition. I just believe DirecTV will hold off, because I don't see the SEC or ESPN budging. They both have enough resources to offer an outside source of broadcasting via the internet. So basically, the only way DirecTV takes on the SEC Network IMO is for mass cancellations specifying that very reason, and it will have to be enough to affect investor relations.

Actually, sip-rage aside, I think it's rather illuminating to see the widely divergent public postures DTV has adopted for the different networks. If they aren't planning to carry a network--LHN--they certainly aren't shy about saying so. The fact that they're saying they're working on getting the SECN shows they already are feeling the heat.
