Not getting talked about enough IMO with all the other CFB talk. I think strong case could have been made for either team at the 5 spot. Making some assumption on other games a road to natty is wildly more difficult for A&M at that 6 seed:

Oregon at 5 path to natty:

JMU > TTU > Indiana > UGA/OSU

TAMU at 6 path to natty:

Miami > OSU > UGA > Indiana

For two equal teams at two very close spots big discrepancy to have a shot at the big dance

What the hell is the discrepancy? Tech and Indiana have kicked arse come on man I get it you want to hype the SEC and we all do but this is just a brain dead take.

Sankey has been deferring to the BIG when it comes to seeding/scheduling. All part of the plan to squash SEC dominance.

But hey, at least Tech and Oregon both have a weaker SOS than both A&M and Ole Miss.

And the SEC never said one damn thing publicly to go to bat for its member schools.

Why is Ohio State greater than Georgia. The one common opponent they have… Georgia beat the shite out if, and Uterus actually lost the game.

Bucknuts didn’t play Oregon. Outside of Texas they played one ranked team, Michigan until Indiana and lost.

Georgia right now is scary and would destroy OSU and their Bama backup

The issue isn't Indiana and Tech. A&M has to play Miami, while Oregon gets a coachless G5 on their opener. Then A&M has to play each of the two favorites to win the whole thing before the NC game while Oregon has to play only one of the two in the NC game. Their path is just demonstrably more difficult and front-loaded.

Texas Tech has played 3 ranked teams; Utah, BYU and BYU.

Indiana has played two better ranked teams, Ohio State and Oregon, but the rest of their schedule is very weak.

Going undefeated is an accomplishment for any team, but those two schedules didn't have very many challenges along the way.

Sankey is showing a lot of weakness lately. The SEC deserves better.

Texas Tech did not go undefeated.
Even with that weak schedule

James Madison is a hell of a lot better than people think. Their run D is 2nd in the nation and Oregon only averaged 21.25 ppg in 4 games vs good run D's(<3.5 ypc allowed). I wouldn't be shocked if they hang around with Oregon.

Only loss was @ Louisville, who beat Miami, and they probably should have won that game. Had a fumble returned for a TD and gave up a 78 yard TD run late in the 4th, aside from that held Louisville to 14 points and 35 rushing yards on 29 carries.

Old Dominion is a damn good G5 team, only lost to Indiana 14-27, and JMU beat them 63-27. Hell, half of Indiana's roster these past 2 years has been made up of JMU transfers

The regular season does not prove anything about JMU. JMU’s strength of schedule was 118.
