Did the Big XII really have a choice?

Anything can still be canceled leading up to the games but for now, had the Big XII said no, would that have added to their shambled conference?
Oklahoma has been their only rep in the CFP going 0-4. It’s barely a conference at TEN teams. Had they said no, would that have been the beginning of the end of the conference?
I feel like them saying yes to fall Football was their only choice and would make them look somewhat good despite failures in football postseasons.
Just a thought.

There is a lot to be said for this. The conference has been one hiccup away from completely imploding for a couple of years now.
I suspect schools like Oklahoma and Texas are starting to wish that implosion would go ahead and happen. They at least know they'll find a soft landing spot somewhere.

The beginning of the end happened for the Big 12 some moons ago. I'm surprised it's held on as long as it has.

Big 12 should use this as an opportunity to release West Virginia - add UHouston, SMU and Nebraska.
Eases travel costs for non revs, gets them to 12 teams, renews Big 8 rivalries, closes ranks somewhat on outside recruiting, opens the recruiting sales pitch back up of playing close to home so momma and your girlfriend can go to your games.

The Big XII needs to somehow expand to make it a dominant conference again. Add Arkansas and Nebraska (both are disgruntled with their current conference.) You could also add a Houston or Utah State to make the conference an even number of teams.

Big 12 gets Nebraska, Mizzou, Texas A&M, BYU, and Iowa
ACC drops Wake Forest and gets West Virginia, Penn St, and Notre Dame permanently
SEC gets Georgia Tech and Florida St.
Big 10 drops Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, and Northwestern and adds USC, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Washington, Arizona, and Arizona St
So, 4 super conferences of 14 teams each:
ACC
North: Notre Dame, Boston College, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia, Penn St, Miami
South: Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, NC St, Clemson, Louisville
SEC

The best evidence is "we don't know enough about the virus." IMO, that isn't enough to cancel any event. People need to take precautions for their own health. But stopping life if crazy talk.

Do I have to? Y’all are just so...lame. Plus, like A&M, you belong with your actual rivals. Mizzou should be playing Kansas and Nebraska. Texas should be playing Texas A&M
