They've been terrible since the 2010 national championship.

If Saban made them recruit poorly and soft with poor player development and high assistant and head coach turn over then sure.

Stoops coming up with repeated blowouts against Texas had a lot to do with this. Some of those Red River Shootout scores were insane.

They aren't the only program he broke.

This would be a better question for the MSB just to see that Mattz1131414 shite kicker melt.

Am I crazy, or do I remember Brown saying in the offseason after that championship game that they were going to focus more on power football? That was bound to cause problems since they had a team full of players who had been recruited to fit the spread, finesse game they had been playing for years.

From 2000-2009, they had a record of 110-19 (tied with Oklahoma as the winningest program of the decade). They also had the highest winning percentage (.853) of any P5 FBS school in the 00s.

Since 2010, their record stands at 53-48. Everything collapsed for them when Mack Brown decided he wanted to change offenses to be more like Alabama. It's also funny that during the summer of 2010, Texas and its fans thought so highly of themselves what with the Longhorn Network and conference realignment. Their egos have definitely taken a beating since that time.

Mack Brown broke them. Had he not pulled a Bobby Bowden and retired when he should have, Texas wouldn't be in such a mess.

Has more to do with recruiting. Schools that recruit well have good seasons. Those who don't don't.

I seem to remember hearing that Brown said he still hasn't gotten over that loss. I don't know if that actually played a part in it, but when you dwell on something like that, you can lose focus on other things.

I personally think recruiting was the biggest factor

Arrogance is what broke them. It filtered down from the brass to the coaches and players. They think think they're entitled to championships/winning/etc...Saban is exactly the opposite of what they are. No matter how much Saban wins/succeeds he never stops trying to improve and he takes nothing for granted.

They also had a few horrible AD's and that made it worse. The ad they have now that came from Tcu is a huge upgrade.

One was Texas did not give Chase Daniel a football scholarship. Then Chase accepted an offer from Missouri. When their primary guy went elsewhere, Texas then offered the scholarship to Chase but he turned it down and went to Missouri. Since then Missouri finally broke out and started playing a lot better and won two big 12 north. Then Missouri football program shot up and is now competitive. That was the key that led Missouri surge and the downfall of Texas. Also Texas failed to find a good quarterback for a long time. That is what I called Karma.

Another one that ruin Texas was Will Muschamp. He was the DC for Texas under Mack Brown. He was in line to replaced Mack. It got to the point Will could not wait and there have been some dispute between Mack and Will. Then Will left and went to one of the SEC school. I am not sure which one. That also hurt Texas.

All they really have in the past 50 years is Vince Young playing the best game any college player ever has, maybe. Which was awesome, since USC lost it, but it doesn't add up to anything to be arrogant about. All hat no cattle, as they say.
