When Mizzou became bowl eligible, the initial reports were that Mizzou didn't want the Dec 28th date. This was all known. The reasoning was hosting Kentucky in basketball the same day. Last year the same thing happened to Mizzou vs Army the same day as Bragging Rights vs Illini, and the AD wanted to avoid that situation with the fans.
The only bowl that fit the criteria with SEC tie in was Las Vegas Bowl and Birmingham. Birmingham is after Christmas, and the request was for players and coaches to be home for Christmas. Las Vegas Bowl is not selecting Mizzou, so the next bowl that fit the criteria Gasparilla bowl. Since the Gasparilla is not first choice for SEC, Liberty Bowl came back and asked Mizzou if they were willing to budge on the date if the opponent was ku. Mizzou said no sticking with their original bowl criteria.

Right, but mizizou scheduled a bowl game last year on a big bball night and it pissed off a lot of fans. She’s trying to avoid that. Has absolutely nothing to do with it being Kansas. I’m sure Tampa game would be a okay
