I've been an Aggy hater a long time. Back when LSU had a regular home/home with them. I was super pumped when they joined the SEC and especially the west. I was impressed with the 1st yr in football. I fully expected them to do well just not as well as quick. They have a solid baseball program just an off yr. I expect them to bounce back next yr. Not sure about basketball they are up and down. All around a solid athletic program. Mizzou is as well but the flop in football gets all the exposure as expected. They'll get it right and be a solid SEC Rep IMO.

Don't bust your wallet. Lol
Was pumped about aTm joining SEC but pissed they slotted the LSU/aTm game in the Friday after Thanksgiving slot. Wish they would have left Hogs there and put aTm at the end.

Mizzou will eventually field a football team that can and will win games in the SEC.

It's got to happen eventually. Perhaps sooner than later, perhaps not.

But when it does happen, those Mizzou fans that persevere here in current whipping boy status will return the favor in spades.

I think that will be entertaining.

All their struggles prove to them is how far away they actually are. They will adapt and play up to their competition.

I don't understand the animosity of some of the LSU fans towards A&M. Especially the George Mason poser. Maybe it's a fear of what's coming from both the Aggies and Mizzou.

Both universities are the flagship schools of their states and have tremendous advantages in recruiting now that they're parts of the SEC brand. A&M is a giant in a giant state and Mizzou stands alone in a population center of 7 million. Could their recruiting environments be more ideal?

Now that realignment is quieting down and schools have an opportunity to study the new college sports landscape, I look for A&M and Mizzou to exploit their new advantages.

It took a long while for SC to turn it around because of a lack of tradition but being in the SEC has helped them establish new ground in many sports, especially football and baseball. Arky, though not having a large population base in their state, has still capitalized on the SEC brand by recruiting on a regional basis. While maintaining their superiority in some olympic sports, coaching issues seem to be the Hawgs' Achilles heel in football and basketball (at least since Richardson).

It won't take Mizzou and the Aggies very long to adapt to their new circumstances. A&M and LSU. Mizzou and Arky. Both are potential rivalries for the ages.

LSU and A&M will become one of the uglier rivalries.

Of this, I am certain.

I look forward to it returning.

LSU and A&M was always one of the great rivalries of the South. It was just dormant for too long.

You have to at least give credit to Missouri for joining the SEC. We all know they would have rather gone to the B1G but that Nebraska took their spot. This just goes to show you how bad it was to live with tu in your conference. They would rather suck hind tit in the SEC forever than be in the same conference as tu. I hope they are forever grateful to A&M for paving their way.

Ummmm, no you don't all know we preferred the B1G. Maybe some of the administrators did, but not the fanbase. Typical myth that is repeated enough, turns into truth.

The real truth of the matter is yes, we wanted out of the Bevo conference, just as much as ATM. At the time of Mizzou exploring going to the B1G conference, we had no idea the SEC was even a possibility. Once we found out that the SEC was looking at us, the fanbase went apeshit and put on a full court press to make this happen. We flooded the Mizzou admn about our desire of where we wanted to land. So the fanbase was the real driving force behind Mizzou landing in the SEC. For the vast majority of Mizzou fans, we ended up exactly where we wanted to be.

Now that could be a good or bad thing depending on how our conference "friends" view us.

Thanks for the well thought out post. Mizzou though simply doesn't produce enough blue chippers in state on a yearly basis to compete in the SEC. We of course have to try and close the borders as much as possible since we are not a national brand say like, Alabama, Florida, and LSU. I'm all for recruiting in SEC territory, but a good amount of emphasis should be trying to get a firm stronghold in the B1G landscape as others have said. Especially Illinois since they produce alot of talent, and Mizzou has become pretty popular for a college choice in that state.

I like the recruitment angle of selling potential recruits of playing in the best football conference and still staying close to home. Big benefits if Mizzou makes it a high priority and exploits it.

I could be mistaken but wasn't it Mizzou trying to leave for the B1G that paved the way for aTm?

TAMU was in the SIAA about 100 years ago. This conference contained core members of what became the SEC, ACC, and SWC and Mizzou was never a member that I am aware of.

TAMU was in the hunt for one of the two spots afforded Arkansas and South Carolina in the early 1990's.

My guess is the path of TAMU in the SEC was paved long before Mizzou entered the picture in 2010. They were just the stalking horse used by the B1G to get Nebraska.

Or the B1G offered Mizzou junior membership status and Mizzou rejected it, paving the way for Osborne to enter the picture and get the Huskers in. But go with what you think.

Mizzou should have a good recruiting opportunity being the Midwest rep for the SEC. Given a little time they will be the Hogs Sr.

It is not what I think if you look at the facts :

- Nebraska tried to get into the B1G twice in the early history of the B1G

- Nebraska was a Top 10 football brand and Mizzou was not

- Nebraska and the B1G were in discussions in Jan of 2010 similar to the Cotton Bowl discussions between Loftin and Slive later on

- Nebraska had an inelastic demand from a loyal fan base that translated well to a conference building a network.

For the older fans, this was already a rivalry. For the younger fans it will take a little time to develop but not long. A&M and LSU have a lot of history, where as the forced rivalry with Arkansas did not
