This is actually a serious question.

Last year (2 starts):

30/41, 367 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs @ Boston College
29/44, 441 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs @ #4 Notre Dame

vs Georgia:

19/37, 178 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

So after he sucked against Georgia, everyone thought that his poor performance was due to some combination of Georgia’s defense being really good and him being overrated due to unimpressive competition last year.

It would be logical to say that he would go back to lighting up shitty teams, right? But that hasn’t happened.

14/24, 171 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT vs SC State
18/25, 126 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT vs Georgia Tech

Believe what you want about Notre Dame in regards to them being overrated but there’s no doubt that 2020 ND’s defense is far superior to GT and SC State’s.

So…WTF is wrong with DJ

We all like to make jokes about how “x broke y” and whatnot, but could this actually be the case? I was listening to a National CFB podcast today and one of the guys on there said he thought DJ was still seeing ghosts from the Georgia game and has no confidence anymore.

Sacks allowed
vs Georgia- 7
vs SC State- 0
vs GA Tech- 0

All evidence points to his OL being fine and Georgia’s DL just being really good.

He has pretty good time back there. He’s just not making good passes.

It’s entirely possible Georgia gave him the yips. The Clemson oline is also terrible.

Didn't Clemson have 4 of 5 starters returning on the OL? I think that is what I heard.

They did. They thought it would be a strength of the team. Then Jordan Davis did mean things to them and they quit

Clemson really has no elite weapons. They recruited a lot of tall receivers but they lack explosive players and can’t separate well. They also have a terrible Oline with an average run game.

He was overrated last year but it was because he had better tools around him. He is just not one who is good enough to play above the lvl of those around him.

This. I've said it in a few threads now, but I truly believe they miss Etienne more than Lawrence, and by a pretty good margin.

Kid was a beast and the catalyst for the Clemson Offense. The Shipley kid is good but he ain't that good.

Clemson just had one of their running backs transfer out. Kirby may have broke Dabo in just one game
