I would be hugely surprised if Nick Saban forfeited a bowl game.

If it's not the playoffs, that's pretty much what they do. They'll lose this game, and give zero fricks about it.

LOLOL... unfortunately, it was a honest question. I think the friend had to many drinks already. What can I say.

There is no way Saban would ever opt out of a bowl. It’s too important to recruiting and young player development plus it’s a reward for the upper classmen who want to play.

The practices are worth more than the game itself.

Just had to get my shot in, I don't think anyone believed bama was going to opt out.

Gotta hope Saban isn't so far gone as to make a fool of himself twice this season.

Excellent point along with the recruiting side ... and of course there is the money split for the conferences.

Bama isn't opting out of the Sugar Bowl. You guys will believe anything.

Saban's comments from today:

quote:

* "Our team is really excited about the opportunity to play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl against a really, really good opponent in Kansas State."- Saban during his opening statement

* "Our team needs to bounce back and show that they're excited about the opportunity we have to play against a top notch team that was a conference champion."

* "We're going to coach the players that are there."- Saban when asked about roster management for the Sugar Bowl. He says the coaches have a great amount of respect for the guys who are going to finish the season with the team. He says there will definitely be opportunities for young guys to step up.

* Saban calls the Sugar Bowl a "classic" game.

* Saban says the bowl game is a good opportunity for players to look forwards, not backwards.

Dude, Derrick Henry wasn't even at Bama till 2013. This thread is awful and you don't seem to know anything about Alabama.

I'm tired of this excuse made every time Bama loses a bowl game. Utah and Oklahoma beat them in the Sugar Bowl straight up. Bama didn't look disinterested when they beat the crap out of Michigan St and Michigan in 2010 and 2019.

They will accept, use all the practice time and then opt out because of sickness/depleted roster……sound familiar ??
