While I will not try to make excuses for Bama's performance against Georgia Southern as we should have done better. I really think that Bama used that week to prepare for Auburn knowing the GS would not be able to defeat the Tide.

If your goal is to compare body of work then this poster did a nice job on Oky St that maybe of interest to some.

1. Credit to GSU. They run the triple-option, and they run it well.
2. This was their big game of the regular season to get pumped up.
3. One TD was on special teams.
4. One TD was on a busted play, accounting for 80+ yds

5. And most importantly, our DLine had several missing starters: NT Chapman out with knee injury, DT Gentry suspended (allegedly breaking curfew), and DT Williams limited action due to food poisoning. Also, LB Watkins out nursing broken arm. Sooooo, these guys are pretty important in stopping a running offense.

ETA: All of whom should be well rested/recovered in time for bowl game.

Bama fans are experts on making excuses for why so and so beat them or competed closely with them.

Do you forget that one of Bama's TDs was off a blocked field goal? I guess, using the tone of your post, that shouldn't count in favor of Bama. And what of Bama's last minute passing TD? Should that count or not?

Bama fans making the excuses? You're the one who started a thread saying that Alabama's win was somehow worse than Oklahoma State's loss because - get this - that missed field goal actually should have been good. (even though that's not true.) I'd say you're plenty well versed in making excuses yourself.

FTR, and unrelated to your post, but so you sweat a little harder, I am pals with Desmond Howard and Chris Fowler. I will be sending both of them a info-filled email later this week when I have all I want to be known written.

Bama defense = #1 (in every category)
OkSt defense = #64

Bama: 21 points or less allowed in every game
OkSt: more than 21 points allowed in 9 games (soon to be 10)

And last but not least...
Bama #2 BCS
OkSt #3 BCS (soon to be lower)

Here's another stat for you:

Bama gave up 67 points total in 8 SEC games.
OkSt gave up 67 points to mighty Tulsa and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Hail mighty Oklahoma State

Ask USC fans if they're laughing after a similar situation unfolded in 2003 and then again with the Reggie Bush scandal.

My favorite conversation of the holiday season (I was in Tuscaloosa visiting in-laws), was centered around GSU. They were all convinced that GSU was the greatest FCS school of all time.

Like, not jokingingly saying this in a way that let you know that they knew they were just making excuses. They told themselves after that game that GSU would compete for a BCS bowl if they were allowed, and nobody in the country would hold them to less than 21.

They were also bragging that GSU was ranked in the AP poll before they played Bama. They received 1 vote. As in, one person (i'd love to know who) put them at 25 on their ballot. That's all that was needed apparently.

eta: thanks funky

A busted play that went to the fullback right up the gut of your all-time great defense.

Not that it's not a ridiculous excuse, but Ga. Southern actually is the greatest FCS school of all time. LINK Once again, not excusing the final score, not saying they're BCS material. Just correcting your post.

And yet they're not even ranked #1 in the FCS division this year!

LOL!
