I live in Kentucky more specifically Louisville and even I only give a shite about horse racing 3 days a year.

I'm going to lose so much sleep over tbis. The travesty.

It's up there with global warming in my top 5 list of outrage.

That's what you get for betting on animals.

Not quite, when there are betting windows in the stadium, then it would be similar.

It's not an exact comparison, but the NFL would lose a shite ton of viewers of you got rid of betting and fantasy.

I was raised in Kentucky. Could give a shite about this pseudo-sport. Was also the youngest Ky. Colonel in 1976 at age eight with lots of invites to the Derby. I'd rather watch putt-putt golf. The Derby is nothing more than Kentucky trying to pretend they have actual culture rather than just a wee bit of corn and tobacco agriculture.

No. Just no. I've never bet on an NFL game or participated in fantasy anything, yet I follow the Saints religiously. Everybody I know personally is pretty much the same.

Horse racing, on the other hand... take out gambling and it would dry up in a week. A girlfriend from an earlier life's family owned a few race horses. She continually complained about horse racing being illegal in Texas. Me: "It IS legal. Your dad can race his horses any time he wants." Which was 100% true.

The pretentiousness in this statement is absolutely hilarious. Turning down Derby invites at age 8. GTFO.

The Derby is fun. Yesterday isn’t going to stop the thousands of attendees or off-track parties associated with it. It’s as much about the party as the racing itself. Horse racing has other issues it needs to address if it wants to survive. But protecting other horses and jockeys isn’t it.

The Derby is something Kentucky is famous for, and nothing wrong with that. It was at one time, a much bigger deal, when I was a kid here in KC. The Derby is something to be proud of, but there is always haters here no matter the topic.
