It's WAY too long of a wait... people will lose interest and viewership will be down. At this point, few people outside of LSU and Clemson fans and general SEC fans, especially those outside the south, will care. It should have been played last night. Not really sure why they waited.

I didn't think I'd upvote any LSU natty OPs... but here this is. Extra waiting sucks more than the fact it's on a monday night. Just horrible schedule planning by the playoff people.

Agree...Close to 4 weeks to the 2 playoff games then over 2 weeks to the champ game. Damn near 6 weeks of dead time. Stupid.

I think the delay is due to scheduling issues with the venue...you know... the “neutral” site where the game will be played.

Semifinals need to be before Christmas (maybe the Saturday before?), and the final needs to be on new year's night.

And it needs to be on a Saturday night. Ninety nine percent of the games all year are played on Saturday, but for the biggest one you have it on a Monday night at 8 o'clock? That sucks too.

It would be really difficult to do this because the students would have hardly anytime to spend with their families at Christmas.
My son is in the MDB and they had to be back in Tuscaloosa to leave for Orlando on the 28th, a full 3 days before the game. I can't imagine when the players had to be back.
If Christmas fell on a Tuesday and the was the Saturday before, most the players would not be home for Christmas. And if they were playing on the west coast, the band kids wouldn't either.
