Obviously Dak in not on the Brady, Rogers level. Or the Wilson, Luck, Big Ben level.
Dak is on the Andy Dalton, Kirk Cousins level. Is Andy Dalton worth $33M a year guaranteed? If so, sign Dak up I guess, if you want.
I'd play him this year on the cheap and let him walk. They might be able to pick up another average QB on the cheap or maybe luck into a young guy. But signing a low ceiling QB to a record breaking contract seems like a death sentence.

A report in June said Prescott’s agent, Todd France, had broached the idea of $34 million a season. Prescott was drafted in the fourth round, fourth round, so the final year of his rookie deal has him making only $2.025 million in 2019.
Dak has not asked for $40 million per year
Edited to add that the link confirms other higher-paid quarterbacks who make more than Dak that have more turnovers, and overall, less production, which includes more time in the league. I'd think the counter-offer is fair.

No...no he’s not...$8-10mm at most.

It's well known he's been underpaid during his time in the NFL...maybe it's time to close the gap with what he should have been making. The Cowboys got Dak at a steal, even if he's only worth $8-10 mil. I believe he's better than average, not great. But he should get some pay in the form of restitution, at the very least.
Also, when in the thread that everyone listed a player from another team that they were happy they no longer had to play anymore (based on my memory) over 50-60 percent of responses listed Dak. So I think he's a little above average.

Cowboys should go about 12M per year anything much more and it will hurt them in the future. That said i think he will get twice that with $ up front.

It's called rookie contracts and he was a 4th round pick.

Signed a contract that averages $28M/yr just last year.

You mean his O-line is right?
Take away the oline and running game, and he is average at best. he wants a k that will jeopardize that crutch. he also pooped his pants during the eggbowl.

Some dumbasses in this thread. Shocking.
First, Dak didn't "turn down" anything. It's called negotiating.
Dak's not negotiating as a shift supervisor at the local plant. He's in position as the starting QB (THE most valuable position) for the most valuable sports franchise in the world, and that's in any sport. Save the "worth it" comments. You have no idea what a popular QB is "worth" to a $5 BILLION franchise
Dak will be fine. The Cowboys will still be the Cowboys

No one believes Matt Stafford is a top 5 QB either. Yet he's paid like one. Just like Dak will be paid like one
If he played behind Dallas' offensive line with Dallas' running game, he would be a top 5 QB. Unfortunately, he plays for Detroit, behind a bad offensive line with no running game at all. He's still better than Dak.

Did you watch the cowboys at all last season? The OL was not good due to several injuries. They were in the bottom 5 of sacks allowed.

I'll start by saying, the salary cap rule is ridiculous, and I can't blame him for wanting as much as he can squeeze out of ole "Johnny Walker Blue" Jerry.
But when you look at what other QBs make, $40m is laughable for him. $30m is more than what I would pay him even. His rookie year he was good due to having an all pro RB and one of the best OL's I've seen. The next year with Zeke out and his OL back to average, he looked average.
Basically, look at Dak's numbers with Zeke playing, and then without him playing. It's outrageous. I know RB's in the NFL don't last long, but you gotta give Zeke his money and then give Cooper his money, then whatever you have left give Dak because 75% of the NFL QB's are capable of replicating his production given those variables.

He already has enough money as is. He can’t even get the cowboys the super bowl, in my opinion he doesn’t deserve 30M+

As a cowboy fan dak and zeke can go frick themselves.

Hes not worth the 2 mil he gets now

So you think Jerry Jones is losing money on Dak? The Cowboy brand isn't brining in the money since Dak went under center?
Or define "worth" for us

He's definitely delusional. He's not even a top 5 qb. Is his agent just as dumb???
