I mean, the dude played there. Why wouldn't he want to set himself up for ideal situations?

Really really low buyout $, including Alabama.
Clemson must not be too worried.

It'll be 1.5 mil or less by the time Bama is looking for a new coach.

If I’m not wrong it’s only in the first 2 years which is basically at least as long as Saban will be there so it just guaranteed he’ll be there through 2021 then all bets are off when Saban goes to pasture

Could be they aren't worried, who knows. Dabo seems to be loving it, and the kids are too. Given those things, and his recent success, I guess they left it wide open...but I can only assume why.

Contract terms are always a matter of leverage, not a matter of how "worried" you are. Clemson got as much in buyout $ as they had leverage to get.

Ouch.

The fact that Dabo was okay with that being added tells me there is no chance he’s leaving.

Damn.

I’m talking at $6 mill

Ok after reading it basically by the time he goes to Bama he will have a 3.5-4 mill buyout.

Chump change

Hard to be a head coach anywhere that doesn’t have a football team due to probation

6 million? Well hell, that ain't shite these days, unless you're a broke arse program like LSU. Jimbo Fisher said hi.

This type of contract is not unusual; Gus has something similar with regards to Shiloh Academy

Huh???

Any other school
2020 - $4M
2022 - $3M
2025 - $2M
2027 - $1M

to Bama
2020 - $6M
2022 - $4.5M
2025 - $3M
2027 - $1.5M

The 'enchanced buyout' is for the life of the contract, not just the first 2 years.

Dabo isn't leaving Clemson. If Bama is his mama, Clemson is his child.

Not that it really makes a difference.
