Sad thing about the whole diatribe is Dabo has contributed absolutely nothing to the rivalry other than giving SC a chance to dent the deficit. He should have just said "You know since I've gotten my arse kicked 3 out of 4 let me tell you about Frank Howard and Danny Ford! Clemson used to dominate this series before I got here!"

Dabo is pure trash. Besides the obvious contradictions you posted, he sounded like a hootin' an' hollerin' redneck after they beat Auburn this year. He stepped in the spotlight and started talking about how he's a Bama guy and yadi yada yada.
Clemson fans will grow tired of him sooner than later, and he'll wonder why he acted like a moron asserting something his team couldn't do on the field.

I had the displeasure of watching the whole game. Oh my fanhood..

I was at the game.
It was empty.
A lot of funny yells from the student section.
My buddy said the ESPN guys talked about it. A Student yelling "WHY IS HE SHOOTING!" when Brian Richardson shot one of his 6 missed threes.

As someone who doesn't really care about either program I find both the alleged Spurrier comment and the Dabo rant just "meh"

This wasn't a jab. It was a seemingly planned out rant, complete with facts and history.
Again, I don't have a problem with it. Todd Ellis apparently took a CSS quote and he misquoted your own coach. The USC team twitter feed attributed the quote to CSS. B/c of this, Reece Davis of ESPN attributed the quote to CSS, as other media outlets. All Dabo said is that the quote is right - Clemson isn't USC for the very facts he listed. Seems to me USC fans were loving the "misquote" until Dabo snapped back. Again, if you don't like, then take issue with Ellis who put words in the mouth of your own coach.

just some good ol' fashion rivalry smack talk.
Back in the day this wasn't anything.
And by back in the day I mean I didn't witness it because I wasn't born back in the day.
This is true right?

That is funny.
But do believe if our football players are tweeting they need to stop.
Those guys don't have filters and I don't want anyone suspended for our bowl game.

In all fairness, Spurrier is know for his jabs as well. He used to be just like Kiffin.
You shut your whore mouth. Steve Spurrier actually could coach the heck out of this game. He won a conference title at Duke. He dominated the SEC more than any other coach in history, including the Bear. Even though he's not dominating at South Carolina, he still has them winning more games than they ever have.
Lane Kiffin is a big mouth without the coaching skins.

The baseball team started it. Only football player I saw that said anything was Sanders.

1) Dabo is talking about winning with class when after every CU win he starts yelling at the reporter about how great it is to be Clemson?
2) Dabo is just trying to save his job. He is correct, Clemson does have more history than us.. all the more reason why being 1-3 vs SC and getting outscored 97-37 over the last 3 games is exactly why CU fans call for his head.
Hell CU has some nice history but damn near none of it has come since FSU joined the ACC in the early '90s.
3) As for the University of South Carolina jab anyone who ever thinks that is in Clemson is a fool because then they truly don't know what it means to be a flagship school of your state. But Dumbo Swinney is a fool so it doesn't surprise me.

I dont know about the sideline reporter who said that to Dabo, but Scott Van Pelt said the "we aint clemson" quote sounded just like something CSS would say and he really hoped it was coming from him (SVP thought is was funny and did a CSS impression). I thought he was just making the quote up. But SVP basically credited it to CSS and if you hadnt been paying that much attention i could see where someone would think CSS said it.

Spurrier has fired back.. this from our GoGamecock site..
quote:
Spurrier is willing to let the incident pass, he said Thursday.
“That crap can happen. They can stick quotes on you,” he said. “As long as the story gets straight, that’s fine with me. I am not mad with anybody. We have a good relationship with those guys, and it’s going to stay that way.”
Spurrier’s daughter Lisa told him Wednesday night that the quote was making the rounds and being attributed to him.
“I said, ‘Well, what do you want me to do? I didn’t say it,’” Spurrier said. “Smart people don’t believe everything they read, and they don’t believe hearsay. … I guess Dabo believed it.”
