right...if there was no NIL or if it was an allowance for specific amount of money..agents wouldn't be involved and this many kids wouldn't be in the portal.

NIL would have been ok before the portal, the portal prob would have been ok without the NIL...but the 2 are like gas on a fire.

SEC is staying at 85 scholarships next season. Good chance they go up after that, but there will be no increase in scholarships among SEC schools for the 25/26 school year.

I don't even know how scholarships are relevant to this.

The end of college football is coming to an end if something doesn’t change. I am old school about this. A persons commitment meant something. Now its lip service and hypocrisy in action.

Its already here. In due time fans will stop supporting NIL as players do one and done. When that dries up the boosters will tire of being asked annually to pay more and more.

Then fans will stop attending games as much due to costs rising and not knowing any 3/4 year players as they change out yearly. It will never die but it won’t be as fanatical as it has been.

I have a feeling that a lot of these players who entered the portal are about to find out, in a rather harsh fashion, that they're not as desirable a commodity as they had led themselves to believe. There are more than a few over-inflated egos about to be popped.

If you're coaching staff waited until now to evaluate these players, they aren't doing it right.

It usually takes 3 - 4 years but this will kill NCAA football.

This crap is really sending me back to my drawing board. When do I walk away? How much more do I need to see? My beloved game is gone. It is played by empty jerseys. Do any of the players know their school song? Who am I kidding, I said "school", I mean the team they play for.

I am saddened because I know myself too well. I will get enough. And my light switch will flick off. That's the way I work. I have loved this game and its tie to my alma mater for decades. Any day now, the insult to my intelligence will be more than I can any longer bear.

I'll fight it as long as I can.

I remember hearing "portal" for the first time 4 or 5 years ago and it sounded so funny. Like just a goofy sci fi term. Little did I Know what free for all was on the horizon.

What is crazy about the number in the portal is that there are tons of players out there warning others that the portal can be a cruel bitch. More than 1/2 of the players won't get an offer or will have to accept a serious downgrade.

By evaluating during the season, then tampering. Crootin doesn't end on signing day.
