Miller, who was a highly recruited 4-star prospect when he signed out of Jackson-Olin High School in 2018, launched a profanity-laced tirade on the practice field Wednesday after being told to put his helmet on. When told to calm down, he didn’t and was finally told to leave the field. Sources tell AuburnUndercover that Miller made the decision to opt out after meeting with head coach Gus Malzahn on Thursday.

he didn't so much opt out as leave the football team for good

edit: Jay Tate thinks he was dismissed

quote:

“He’s really talented, but it just hasn’t worked out,” said a source close to the program. “(They) really wanted to save him, but he had to want it, too.”

Is "Opt Out" now code for "getting kicked off the team" or "leaving in a huff because they couldn't whine and complain at practice"?

Well, in this case I don't know if he quit or got his arse booted from the team.

I doubt Malzahn would boot anyone though.

Unless the stole a computer and were kicked out of another SEC school

Unless they stole from their teammates and were kicked out of another SEC school

Unless they had multiple disciplinary issues and were dismissed from another SEC
school

Just off the top of my head...

ETA: He did NOT get booted off the team per Brayden Marcellos. He told coaches he didn’t feel Auburn would be able to compete with their current roster - and he didn’t want to waste his time. Big if true imho.
