Jack Lambert was undersized even for his day, Drac would destroy a college QB and make him watch his own death. Mean Joe would make Mendoza cry when he hit him. Pavia would be begging to quit. If played by today's rules, different story. The oline gets to hold today, back in the 70s and 80s todays blocking was illegal. Imagine watching the modern D line guy getting cut block over and over.

I think an NFL team from the 90s beats any CFB team, but I think if you pit the best CFB teams (2019 LSU, 2020 Alabama, 2021 UGA, for example) against a regular 70s era NFL team (especially early 70s,), I think the CFB team wins. A regular cfb team vs a regular NFL 70s era team, though, and I think the NFL Team wins.
And on top of that, modern CFB teams have huge advantages in strength training, conditioning, nutrition, and hydration. In reality, this is where the game is won. For example, in the ’70s, lifting wasn’t universal (skill players didn't even lift) and recovery science was basically nonexistent. Heck in the 1970's NFL guys were even restricted from drinking water to "toughen up". Today’s players train year-round and are conditioned to play fast for four quarters. Based on just these factors alone, the differences between the 1970's team and a modern CFB team would show up very quickly on the field. And this doesn't even take into account film study (non existent in the 1970s) analytics and tendency analysis.
In fact, I might even argue that some of the Elite HIGH SCHOOL teams in the country (like IMG) could go head to head with the average 1970's NFL team. Here are some basic stats from the web...
D-Line
1970s NFL: 6’4", 255–270 lbs, 5.0–5.3 sec
Modern Elite HS: 6’4"–6’5", 260–285 lbs, 4.7–5.1 sec
Linebackers
1970s NFL: 6’1"–6’3", 220–230 lbs, 4.8–5.0 sec
Modern Elite HS: 6’2"–6’4", 210–240 lbs, 4.6–4.8 sec
Wide Receivers
1970s NFL: 5’11"–6’2", 185–200 lbs, 4.4–4.6 sec
Modern Elite HS: 5’10"–6’2", 170–200 lbs, 4.3–4.5 sec
Quarterbacks
1970s NFL: 6’1"–6’3", 196–200 lbs, 4.8–5.1 sec
Modern Elite HS: 6’1"–6’3", 180–200 lbs, 4.6–4.8 sec
O-Line
1970s NFL: 6’3", 255–270 lbs, 5.3–5.6 sec
Modern Elite HS: 6’5"–6’7", 275–295 lbs, 5.0–5.3 sec
Note that in almost every category, the advantage goes to the HS kids. (Note: This isn't the average HS football team. This is only for elite schools, the "football factory" schools)

I disagree. The men back then were built different, and Brown would truck anyone on the planet today just as he did back then.
The broadcasters were talking about how the Bears' left tackle yesterday only weighed 305 pounds.
The average offensive lineman in the NFL weighed around 255 pounds in 1975 according to Gemini. It doesn't matter how much whiskey they drank and how many bears they wrestled. They would've gotten bullrushed straight back into the quarterback every snap.

I think the current college team would win.
Most of those guys that played in the NFL in the 1970s are well into their 70s now and probably don't move as fast as they used to.

The 4a runner up here in Arkansas O line average 45lbs heavier and 2 inches taller than the Oline in Superbowl1. Football would be the only sport you could do this wth because of the size factor alone.

It would be hilarious to see them play with 70s rules.

Comes down to the rules.
If we played by 70s rules book, the college QB wouldn't make it out of the first quarter.

Can they hit (tackle) like they did then? If so there would probably be some dead college players.
That was a mans sport back then. Not finesse and trick plays.

The offensive lines need to slim down.
