and what he perceived as the lack of support by the school, fans, big contributors and probably somewhat by the state. Baton Rouge achieved shithole status mostly through Katrina. Whatever things worked out for Saban who wound up where he wants to be and BR, sadly, has become what it has become.

It's true. I've noticed that Nick has never had one good word to say about LSU.

WRONG! Where do you tards get your info? Lsu had just recently won national title for the first time since 1957. LACK OF SUPPORT????
Saban left because the Miami dolphins gave him the keys to the car.Wayne Huizenga wined and dined saban because he knew saban always wanted to be a Head coach in the Nfl.Saban and his Wife while at LSU loved it and if i remember right he had a hard time convincing his wife to Leave. Saban always had the Nfl itch in his early days and Huizenga thought he was getting the next Bill Belichick. Had saban got free agent drew brees instead of culpepper at Qb we would not be having this conversation.

Saban may hate Lsu now but at the time Lsu and the state were bending over backwards to keep him happy and had miami not come with a once and a lifetime offer he would have never left. Some of you people just amaze me with the crap you come up with.

Maybe we can have some competitive games with LSU again if that happens.

I am sure Carville accusing him of corruption on national tv pissed him off, but publicly Saban has had nothing but nice things to say about his time at Baton Rouge. So...

I think GOAT would have gone to Dolphins back then if he had been at Bama. Timing is everything

If he didn’t leave for Miami. He would have left eventually, and that would have been why. LSU wouldn’t have been able to retain Saban in the long run, we’re just not all in on football.

I wonder if going from one million a year at LSU to four million a year at Miami had something to do with it?

Uh he left because big Wayne gave the Sabans two blank checks to write in their numbers, and total control of a NFL team. Why wouldn't an egomaniac take that knowing the college game will always be there?

Man, the LSU trolls must have really gotten under Jimdog and Nickwho's skin. UGA and Bama fans are both creating threads on here about LSU. LSU ain't beating Bama with O and Steve Ensminger, but the LSU trolls appear to have scored a trolling victory.

Total fabrication. Saban got everything he asked for. New Academic Center- Check. New Football Operations facility- Check. Money - Check. Both of those facilities were state of the art at the time. Skip offered him virtually anything he wanted but Saban had an NFL itch and he had to scratch it.
FWIW, it's just good fortune that Rich Rod reneged on the Tide, otherwise Bama would still recovering from Dubose and Shula.
I hate that Saban went to the Dolphins and failed. I loved what he did to resurrect LSU football.
