To each their own.
Coming from out of state, it helped me emerge myself and has only been beneficial during my time here and am positive it will in the future. The networking is worth it too

I also have been to Auburn and I thought the flying of the Eagle was pretty neat too.
That's pretty cool despite my for the fanbase in general.

Aggie Band; disappointed they didn't think the State Game was a big game last year, so didn't show.
Travel costs.
When I was a member, it cost almost $350,000 to charter a plane and send just the sophomore - senior class + instruments for a plane trip + missing a full Friday of class. For bus trips, we would depart at about 1am the day of the game.
1996 - Ames, Iowa
1997 - Manhattan, Kansas (no Band at the Colorado game)
1998 - Giants Stadium, Lawrence, Kansas, St. Louis, MO (Big 12 Title Game) and we drove to NOLA
1999 - Omaha, Nebraska (no Band at the Missouri game)
I KNOW costs have gone up since then.
Since joining the SEC:
2012 - Tuscaloosa
2013 - No plane trips
2014 - Auburn
The AD has said that he wants to get the Aggie Band to every SEC stadium within the first 10 years. The plane trip this year is Nashville. (Vanderbilt)

The Aggie band was the single coolest halftime show in the SEC. it blows the UGA fire twirling girls out of the park

I love the STTDB chant. Patently obscene, but hauntingly beautiful.

Our BQs would beat you over the head for that, then correct you: "it's a drill. A halftime drill."
BQ would be short for Band Queers. I don't know why we have to identify them as Band "Queers." We're all fricking queers. It's like calling Texans "Texas Texans" or some shite.

"Rocky Top" (just in moderation... 50+ times a game is way too much )
"Callin' Baton Rouge", "Lousiana Saturday Night, and TGBFTL
The Grove, Hotty Toddy Cheer
The UGA "Battle Hymn" solo from the upper deck
"Dixieland Delight"
Side note: Love so many of Auburn's traditions but the Pregame Eagle flight is my favorite AU tradition.

Ol rocky top you'll always be last in the SEC...frick you rocky top hey....rocky top Tennessee. Huge fan of the big orange navy.
Slow slow slow Dixie in the grove...not a fan of the school but the song is legit.
Anything the LSU band plays...and I mean whatever they play is great. Plus the smoke screen laid about by the cheerleaders.
The eagle flight for awbarn Is just mmmmk to me. Still a great tradition.
Mike the tiger! A real live man eating tiger! Doesn't get much better than that...
Dixieland delight is also a great one.

I would lean toward band performances.
Tennesee: Rocky Top. Repetitive, but awesome just the same.
A&M: The Noble Men of Kyle. The band drill to that song is the best.

Says everyone that wishes they could play in Atlanta.
FTR Mizzou is the school that started homecomings so there's that.

As far as tailgating goes, I think waking up to a cool, crisp Saturday morning in Knoxville to begin tailgating is about as awesome as anything can be in the SEC.
Plus, in recent years, your team winning there is almost automatic.

1) LSU Chants LLLLLLL-SSSSSSS-U
2) Bama's Winning
3) Georgia trashing their campus (validates what bad fans they have, Alabama Arrogance without the titles)

For the venues I've gone to here are the opposing traditions I found really awesome.
Alabama : The pregame video played with the Bear talking and past highlights gets the hair standing up on your neck.
-Rammer Jammer - Arrogant and awesome at the same time.
Auburn: Eagle flying through the stadium before the game is probably #1 on this list for me. I was in awe the first time I saw this.
- Rolling of Toomer's Corner...haven't done this myself but from everything thing I've seen think it would be an amazing thing to do if you were a fan of AU.
Florida - Gator Chomp is really intimidating and everyone in the stadium gets into it.
Georgia - Ringing the bell after every win. I also love the bridge at the end of the one stadium...really cool looking.
Miss St - I guess the cowbell is pretty cool because its really loud?
South Carolina - The 2001 entrance is sick...really think that is intense. The cockabooses are really really cool too.
UK and Vandy - eeehhhh......

Opposed to trashing a corner of what is already a shitty downtown every weekend with toilet paper? I don't see a difference.
By the way, this was a one time occurrence that happened - what? - In 2009?
