I don't like big heels on shoes, either.
I grew up in the most cowboy parts of western Arkansas. I'm familiar with cowboy boots. I've had expensive ostrich boots as a kid. I own a cowboy hat.
There's just something kinda douchey about cowboy boots as dress-clothing. That's just MHO. I guess its part of the whole Texas thing.

TBird, what's your AFSC?
TeLeFaWx, who are you working for? My brother's getting broken in as a field engineer in Cotulla for Weatherford.

I guess I can understand that perspective from folks who don't wear boots daily/as part of their everyday lives. May seem kinda forced for them. I've just honestly never thought about it--they're as routine as any other shoe in my closet. There's nothin' "fashion"-related about it. Guess it's a cultural thing.

I just don't understand why anybody who isn't a cowboy would bother to wear cowboy boots. They are basically high heels for men.
Uncomfortable as frick.
Well I'm a farmer so boots are actually quite feasible to wear for me, and I find them to be very comfortable and they look good especially with jeans. And they last a long time and keep your feet dry

Right on. I have work boots
,
and I have LL Bean hunting boots,
and I have cold weather/snow boots.
I ebay'd my last pair of cowboy boots probably 5 years ago. (about a year after I moved out of Texas)

I've got some black ostrich Luchesse's that are bad arse. I tend to wear my vintage snakeskins more cuz they're wild as frick, and I'm known to drink whiskey straight out the boot.
Oh and the best boots made in Texas are these guys
