Dude. Way to be an arse. There was no need for that. OP was celebrating his dad and what his dad accomplished. It has nothing to with Bama at all. Your post is why people call our fan base insecure.

I dont have a story that compares at all to yours. But my dad played on the 1958 LSU NC team. I have his ring now and wear it occasionally. When you compare the rings back then to today’s it is so different. His has Tiger Stadium with small maybe 1/4 diamond in it. Also his name engraved inside with some writing on the sides. Before he passed away his last request was for me to hold onto it until my nephews were old enough to be responsible for it. I finally told them that this year on their annual trip to Florida to see their uncle. They were so pumped up but then asked which one gets it. Now not sure what to do. Have a few more years before I have to make that decision. Not looking forward to that.

Could you have a rotating system where each male over 21 (or whatever age you think appropriate, maybe 30 so it does not get lost in dorm or frat house) in the line gets a football season with the ring?

It’s great you have something tangible to remind you of good times with your dad.

Not a bad idea. They are 14-16 now. Their mom is an Aggie which sucks. Since one wants to be an engineer I am sure he will go to A&M. The other is die hard LSU. So by default he should get it !!! But seriously I think I am going to make a display like some sort of shadow box with my dads jersey and the original program from the sugar bowl against Clemson. Then a small display with the ring but where they can remove it if they want to wear it now and then to show off. But your idea of rotating is great. My brother wants me to wait until both are out of college

Good idea.

Y’all could even have like a guys trip every year to mark the
Memory of your dad and rotate the ring.

I’m sure you will find a positive way to make this a family tradition.

This is what makes college football great.

I’ll admit when I started reading I was thinking maybe the ring had been repossessed along with all the others because the 1957 team was on NCAA probation for numerous infractions. But now I see I was being small minded and petty. I now see that if another team, Alabama for example, were voted a AP or UPI NCship when they were on probation, no one would think it tainted or comment about it 60+ years later.

You're an arse. College football is the greatest sport. This board is for trolling and legit conversation as well as smack. At the end of the day life supersedes sports. Regardless of school affiliation this is a wonderful story and celebration of a fans father. I hope no one ever reciprocates your pithiness, I would hope they have more class than to dip to your level.
