Lsu is mediocre in both so no.

LSU will be better at basketball. Alabama was obviously a good bit better in football. So, it'll depend on how much better in basketball LSU is.

one team finished 8-5 unranked. one team finished 10-3 and in the top 10.
against common opponents:
lsu 2-2
uga 3-1
georgia beat 4 ranked teams. lsu beat 2.
uga wins a bowl game against a ranked opponent. lsu loses to unranked notre dame.
i dunno, you can spin shite all day long, but there is not a single factor that will actually support these teams being even.

LSU has gone into rupp and taken the sec championship from Kentucky.
LSU has gone into Bryant Denny and taken the sec championship from Alabama.
I know I am living in the past but has any other program ever done both of these in their history like lsu has.

Agreed! However, I think next year will be even better with the way recruiting is going in both these sports. Looking at Rivals they have 2 of top 10 in basketball (Simmons for certain) and more than their share (4 min.) of top 30 in football w a few more possibles. All we need is coaching.....

My Cross Country and Track coach back in hs was a track athlete at LSU.
