Thought you were gonna be posting proof. Don't get my hopes up with an "if" bro.

If true, it's a homerun. Gundy would immediately put a stop to the negativity around Knoxville right now and make everyone forget about pedogate.

EDIT: and his mullet fits right in with east Tennessee.

That’d be a monster hire and go a long ways of washing off the stink of this current search.

He will turn it down imo.

Just insane that you go from Schiano to Gundy. We are truly fricked if nothing changes in our AD.

Reports are that Gundy won't decide today, he has to mullet over.

A grown man wouldn't need that much time.

Good luck landing him. He has left some teams at the alter in the past though.

I hope UT gets him.

Vols have been in the Pit of Misery long enough.

Need more good teams in the East.

This would certainly be true. The fan base would instantly become energized. There's no doubt he would put an exciting offense on the field.

The big question will be, once the honeymoon is over, will he be able to just outscore SEC teams? It's almost as if he willfully deemphasizes defense...almost as if his philosophy is to not care about defense because he knows he can out score you. Just the total defense rankings for the last several years:

2017: 75th
2016: 92nd
2015: 100th
2014: 93rd
2013: 53rd
2012: 82nd
2011: 107th
2010: 88th
2009: 31st
2007: 94th

That's more than just the occasional rebuilding year on defense. And his recruiting classes haven't been that bad. You would think that as well as he has recruited, he could put better defenses on the field if it was important to him.

If he does go to Tennessee, things will definitely get more exciting. I doubt that Vol fans will care if he wins 24-17 or 52-49, as long as he wins. The question will be if his philosophy will be successful in the SEC.

Well Chavis could soon to be available for him as DC.

He's had the same DC, Glenn Spencer, for the last five years, and Spencer has been on the defensive staff since 2008. Seriously...how does he keep his job for that long unless Gundy consciously just doesn't care how many points he gives up, because he knows he's going to score more?

Has Mike Gundy accomplished anything? Asking for a friend.

Mike Gundy would be the most qualified head coach the Vols have hired since Johnny Majors.

But then again, Greg Schiano would have been also.

But yeah...I think Gundy's a better hire. Just my opinion.
