If Texas actually pays him 5 million a year, that’s over double what the current highest coach is paid (Corbin at 2.45)
I’m not sure that’s worth melting over. Honestly that’s just fricking idiotic on Texas’ part and you run the risk of the baseball version of Jimbo in a non revenue sport.
Not that I'm believing any of these rumors because I don't. That being said 5 mil is nothing for a program that loves baseball as much as we do. The rumors are getting ridiculous though.

What about the rumors of Skip Johnson instead? (Oklahoma)

It's the kind of bullshite, bush league stuff those asshats do as a matter of routine.

Doesn’t matter. The damage is done as was the intention. This will be a major distraction for the team tonight.

Are we really getting into the salary stratosphere of football coaches trickling down to baseball coaches.
I don't think any baseball coach is worth $5 million a year when the revenue in college baseball doesn't support that investment.
There aren't many programs that make money in baseball, but Texas, LSU & A&M are 3 of them..
That being said, if it's truly $5 million, it's probably $3.5 for Schloss and $1.5 for his assistants.. or maybe NIL is factored into that number as well..

I have no idea who's coming and I'm not going to speculate. I will let the wannabe Insiders take care of that. I'm just going to wait and see.

Yep I'm positive he's not coming. I'm not a big important insider like you though so what would I know?

A few weeks ago, I might have said no way Schloss leaves A&M...for anywhere.
But then the cards began to fall into place.
Pierce finished miserably. Vitello made it to the CWS finals. And Schloss delivered the Ags to the doorstep of their first national title.
The AD that hired Schloss is no longer at Texas A&M. The AD that Schloss worked for at TCU is at Texas. Del Conte knows he's the best college baseball coach in America.
Vitello used to work for Schloss at TCU, but they are not bosom buddies. Schlossnagle has confided to some that Vitello was...."difficult."
I can't fathom Schlossnagle staying in Aggieland and letting Tony Vitello take the job in Austin, where Schloss would have to deal with him 365 days a year.
Austin is a better place to live than College Station. Let's not discount that.
So I think a Del Conte/Schlossnagle reunion is inevitable. The timing points to that.
If A&M loses tonight, Schloss will leave with a clear conscience knowing that he took the Aggies further than they've ever gone in baseball.
And won't the Aggie meltdown be fun to watch?!

Oh yeah. Has to be in the players heads at this point as well that their coach is considering other opportunities.
Does that rally them or deject them?

LSU fans sure want Schloss out of College Station.

If Schloss leaves for Texas after this crap today, it would be the biggest backstab in college history. I don’t think he’s that type of person. And I’m pretty sure he wants to win tonight.
The timing of this is a huge distraction. No way A&M wins tonight as intended.

I'm going to need to see objective proof of this.
Almost no one who works in Austin actually LIVES there by choice. They're the Texas version of Seattle.

I don't think it will effect them much either way..
they are playing for the championship..
that's all that matters to them right now imo..
tomorrow, things change in all aspects of life..

It will distract them - only natural.

If he's not coming why would this be a distraction? Maybe you're just happy that we've given you an excuse for losing?
I think you're going to win tonight so it doesn't matter.

I'll be so glad when he hires someone so this threat can just fricking die.

texas doesn't care. gorbachev had a line about the USSR that describes UT just as well.
"our power comes from the perception of our power".

Even if Schloss were tell the locker room the rumors are stupid, it wouldn’t make a difference. I don’t think we win tonight anyway - now I’m pretty certain of it. Players will be distracted
