Concerns about the SEC moving forward

Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about the SEC’s future and wanted to share some concerns:
Lack of Weak Teams: Unlike the Big Ten, which has 18 teams but only 12 went bowling, the SEC has 16 teams with 13 going bowling. This means the SEC doesn’t have enough weaker teams to balance out the competition, making it tougher for teams to stand out.
Transfer Portal Issues: The SEC teams are hurting each other more in the transfer portal. While other conferences are also targeting SEC players, the internal competition is intense and could be detrimental in the long run.
Coaching Hires: It seems like the SEC is falling behind in coaching hires. There have been some questionable decisions with top talent, which could impact the conference’s overall performance.
Exploiting Rules with AI: Other conferences are living more in the grey area, using AI to figure out when to exploit rules. Whether it’s intentionally having 12 men on the field or calling certain plays knowing they’ll result in PI or holding, they’re playing the statistics on consequence vs. reward more effectively. Michigan stealing plays was only the tip of the iceberg. The B1G has convinced themselves that they lost to the SEC all these years because of fairness issues and way, way over corrected.
What do you all think? Are these valid concerns, or am I overthinking it?

It’s so freaking convoluted now it will never be close to the old days - and I mean 1980’s -2010’s.

None of it has any impact now that there is the CFP. SEC teams just need to focus on being able to compete against the Big 10's best. Then just be in the SEC top 3 to get into the CFP.
The goal is no longer to win the SEC, but to get into the CFP field and have a chance to win.

The portal has hurt us all. No stockpiling talent by Bama and Georgia and the rest of us are getting raided. The NFL does not allow tampering but the NCAA encourages it. Plus when you are successful a bunch of guys go to the NFL and your assistants get better jobs.
I’m not throwing in the towel after two years. SEC still recruiting the best.

There is no concern. The same teams that have always won titles are still winning titles. 1996, it’s been almost 30 years since a college football team won its first ever natty. The sec will be fine, the sec has the largest amount of teams willing to do what it takes to win one. That doesn’t mean other teams don’t do the same(osu Mich Clem Mia fsu nd) so sometimes they hit too. Predictive chaos theory would suggest if there are about 20 teams willing to do what it takes to win a natty and 9 of them reside in the sec, and the rest are divided between 3-4 other conferences the sec will still win the most.

Also other conferences are catching up, Kramers innovation gave the sec a head start wit the ccg along with slice parlaying that into a massive media deal. ie best facilities staffs and resources were at the sec. Other conferences were 10 years behind….not so much anymore

Here’s the problem with the argument that the BIG only had 12/18 bowl eligible teams. They play a 9 not 8 game league schedule. Half their teams are guaranteed an extra conference loss.
The BIG had 3, 5-7 teams. In an 8 game schedule like the SEC, take away the extra conference game and replace it with a cupcake and they very well could have had 15/18 bowl teams. Apples to Apples.
Also, the BIG mandates a nonconference p4 opponent. BIG teams play 10 p4 games minimum while a team like Ole Miss has I believe 8 scheduled in 2025. Could be wrong, but I thought I saw a pretty pathetic nonconference schedule for them.
The SEC teams play “stronger schedules” is a myth based on the number of p4 teams I mentioned above and possibly by elevated SEC teams’ preseason rankings as well.
I only addressed this bc I’ve seen this argument multiple times since stumbling on this board after the Osu/tenn game to see the meltdown.
