The winning tradition of Mississippi State means being more relevant than Tennessee since 2007. And that is a fact.

Relevant in what way? How many trips to Atlanta have you made since 2007? How many division titles does your football team claim? Congratulations! Instead of finishing sixth or seventh in the division every single year, you've been finishing between third and fifth.

So once again. Everyone here claims it is because in 1981 it mattered. But this isnt 1981. This is 2020. And its time to face reality is this is now the 3rd decade of Tennessee irrelevancy.

If Alabama wants to lower their program standard to Tennessee. Then that is a OK with me. It just needs to be shown why everyone laughs at the fake rivalry but the Alabama and Tennessee fans still delusional.

So I guess you're just going to completely throw out 1989-2007?

The last time Tennessee won the SEC was the last time Mississippi State was in Atlanta.

I guess going to 4 bowl games since 2010 is a big accomplishment at Tennessee.

But at Mississippi State, it is an annual expected thing, even if we hire an atrocious coach like Moorhead.

The current core of players were in 2nd grade or below during that era. So why does that matter?

Accuracy matters. If you're going to be a troll at least try not to suck at it. The fact of the matter is, Tennessee was elite during the 90s and was still solid throughout the early-00s. It wasn't until 2008 that they went to shite. You were trying to peddle "three decades of irrelevance" as if it were fact. All someone has to do is do a quick Google search to prove you're an idiot.

And the last time Mississippi State clinched the SEC title was a week before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

Actually it was after 1998. The last time they won the SEC and the National Championship. Do a quick google search to prove you're an idiot.

The fact of the matter is. Tennessee has not been elite for our 3rd decade now, and has not been solid for over 13 years.

This is a thin straw you're grabbing at and I feel bad for you.

You will never experience this fake rivalry the way you perceive it ever again.

But who here is claiming Alabama-Mississippi State is the most intense rivalry in the SEC?

Nobody

Who here is claiming Alabama Tennessee is the best intense rivalry in the SEC? Delusional Alabama and Tennessee fans that think that the 1990s matter in 2020.

The record of Alabama over Tennessee is 56-38-7, with long winning streaks for both teams. In the SEC, Alabama and Tennessee are ranked 1-2 for national championships, total program wins, winning percentage, top 25 finishes, and consensus All-Americans.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... Alabama is 82-13-3 against Miss St. Alabama has separate winning streaks of 22, 12, and 12 games in a row against the Bulldogs. Honestly, that's not much of a rivalry at all. Statistically, VANDERBILT has a better record against Alabama than Miss St.

So yeah, I guess I can see why you might not understand the deep hatred of this rivalry.

Bama beat UT once from 1995 to 2006. During that 12 season span, UT beat Bama the same number of times that Mississippi State has since the US entered WWII (1941). Yes...that 12 season span for UT matched the last 77 seasons for MSU with regards to wins over Bama.

Top 25 finishes since 2007: Tennessee 2, Mississippi State 4

And since you brought up Vanderbilt. The Vanderbilt Tennessee series as of late is a more competitive rivalry than Tennessee is with Alabama.

There is no deep hatred among current athletes, students and any alums that grew up in this century because the rivalry doesnt exist.

And the ones that claim that do jack off to the 90s crossing their fingers that it can come back just so they dont have to come to the conclusion that Auburn and LSU are much more competitive and intense rivalries.

The Bear considered Tennessee a big rival. Its obvious Saban doesnt and considers LSU a much bigger one. Yet Alabama fans only follow the bear and not the coach who will win more in a shorter time frame than the Bear ever will. Interesting

Congratulations. In 2006, your current seniors were in 2nd grade, Juniors in 1st grade, sophomores in kindergarten, and freshmen in preschool.

Im sure all of them remember and celebrate the Tennessee glory years fondly.

You can rationalize and try to justify your position in your mind all you want... but that just doesn't make it so.

Mississippi State has not had, is not at, and will never be at the level of "rivalry" with Alabama that Tennessee had held. Ever. Full stop, end of story.
