What's funny to me is you're correct. Tennessee is such a mediocre program that I will never see this series be relevant again.

Divisons were the beginning of killing it, and then Saban came in with the kill from his 2001 upset at LSU in the SEC Title, to his time at Alabama.

What is funny to me is outside of Alabama and Tennessee, everyone sees that

Mississippi State has more of a stake of a rivalry with ALabama than Tennesse does atm.

But neither have a case at all.

What's hilarious to me is no one has countered with a meaningful point other than "in 1941 or in 1995".

Yet your current athletes do not consider this a rivalry because the intensity is dead due to the dominance and the gap between the programs which both athletes and coaches see more than the fans themselves.

Alabama might as well claim Kentucky and Missouri as a rival too since they like these irrelevant games

Apparently I could repeat this again...

quote:

You can rationalize and try to justify your position in your mind all you want... but that just doesn't make it so.

Mississippi State has not had, is not at, and will never be at the level of "rivalry" with Alabama that Tennessee had held. Ever. Full stop, end of story.

... and you still wouldn't understand.

Like my pappy usta ask, "Why are you trying to swim uphill, son?"

My point is the Alabama Tennessee game isn't a rivalry.

Your counter argument is to change the topic to a more competitive series in modern history.

So you're repeating nonsense.

This clown believes that only the last 13 games matter in a rivlary that consists of 102 games.  Neyland, Bryant, Stabler, Majors, Goose's victory cigars, etc. do not matter.

I'm gonna repeat this for the third time...

... but I somehow just know you still don't get it.

And as an Alabama fan, I frankly consider myself to be an infinitely superior source of information about Alabama rivalries than a Miss St fan.

Tennessee is trying to pull themselves out of the worst stretch in program history. That doesn't take anything away from what's been a great rivalry for the last 100 years. State is 2 steps away from a Division 2 school with Vanderbilt. You have 0 equity in the conversation and simply reading the room it'a easy to divulge that nobody respects you or your thoughts on the matter.

I sorta thought he was trolling at first, but it rapidly became apparent that he has the smarts of a tree stump. And about the same stubborn constitution.

anyone who's been on this board for some time, knows this thread is an annual thing. I call it the TSIO triggering

Usually it comes from the LSU fans thirsting for the attention of Alabama fans. Watching a Mississippi mutt have a sky screaming melt over it has been entertaining but now it has past the pathetic point.

If Alabama, Tennessee and the SEC power brokers want this game, then so fricking what?

Actually it was after 1998. The last time they won the SEC and the National Championship.

I know it was after 1998. That’s why I said they went to shite in 2008. What are you trying to argue here?

What defines "modern history"? Sounds like an oxymoron (jumbo shrimp).

"Modern history" is any arbitrary date or year the OP chooses. A lot of people go with 1980 for college football but this Mississippi State fan decided to start with 2007-08.

An elementary aged child knows the RIVALRY of TSIO. Just because 1 side has a winning streak DOES NOT negate it being a rivalry.
