Bama:
Offense- Overall I think this years teams is better by a pretty good margin. QB/OL/WR/TE are all better. RB- No Trent by Eddie & TJ are pretty close or have been as productive. But last Year with TR would be Better.
Defense: Overall a very good unit this year but not as good as last years by a pretty good margin. The players are are there, just not as experienced and the secondary talent is not as good. We do lead the nation in a lot of Defensive cat's and lead the SEC in most all, so even though we regressed some this year it's still one of the best in the SEC.
So we are better on O and little worse on D. If I had to choose I think I'd take last years team due to the defense and TR over this years.
Think about these teams Defenses: UF, BAMA, LSU, USCe and UGA.. damn strong!Plus there are some really good players on A&M/MSU/OM/UV/etc.
How about it SEC fans, how did you team compare?

Our 2012 team was coached better, in much better condition, and played with confidence.
Our secondary is still our weak point. Our QB was way better (even with Tannehill being a top 10 pick) and a far greater leader.
Confidence and conditioning is the biggest difference with this team outside of Johnny. It also helps to have a coach with some balls.

I'd actually suggest that 2011 Bama was better than 2012 Bama in every facet of the game. You had more weapons in the passing game.. better RBs.. and your OL was just as good.
LSU 2012 is far worse on defense.. far worse. Special teams is down also. Offense is better, though, even with a patchwork group of starters.

I don't know where to begin.

2012 LSU > 2012 A&M
Did I do that right?

Offense is much better. Fewer FGs more TDs. I sure wish we had Richardson though.
Defense is probably the worst Saban has had. Not that they're bad, because they're very good, but just not "special" like last year. You can throw stats around to try and prove me wrong, but you have to admit this defense just isn't what it was last year

Everything went from bad to rock bottom.

Unfortunately our defense isn't close to what it was last year. Our secondary better get its crap together this week or we are in trouble against Murray.

bmy--- I can see where you would think that about the offense.. but for some reason this years just seems a little more versatile, maybe it's the new OC's play calling, IDK but I think the WR group is better this year, AJ is better and the OL is >=, but we don't have TR. It's close.

Impossible. Ole Miss did not actually field a football team in those years.

Not even close. Coop > all 2011 receivers.

2012 Sumlin/JFF on the left....2011 Sherman/Tannehill on the right

8-5 to 3-9 is pretty self-explanatory.

Looks like fun.
Offense- Run game is just as dominant as last year. Maybe more-so with Hill emerging. Very deep as always. QB play was terrible until UA game, as everyone knows. Prior to November I was actually missing JLee. O-line was a joke early in the season, they look much better now. WR's are the same way, but they still don't look as good now as they did last season because we don't have a big guy like RR to draw coverage.
Defense- Not as impressive/dominant as last season, but still dominant. None of our "stars" played like we thought they would, but they still got it done. Not much else to say.
ST- Return game doesn't look as good w/o TM7. Same amount of TDs.. Not as many yards, not as good FP as often. OBJ is good, but he isn't TM.

Back to back 10-2 seasons with our star RB tearing his knee up midway through it. Crazy how similar they were, honestly.

LSU is not quite as good since they lost even more nick saban players to graduation last year. After this season, most of his players will be gone and LSU should tank pretty hard in 2013.

Ags much improved in avoiding 3 and outs. Huge improvement. These were a killer for our D last year.
Ability to maintain time of possession and give our D a chance to rest and stay off the field really helped limit our secondary time on the field which is still a bit of a problem.
Ags kicking game this year was terrible. Almost cost us the game at Bama, almost got us with La Tech and Ole Miss, and probably cost us the game vs LSU. Huge dropoff from last year... only real dissapointment from 2011 to 2012.

By position:
QB: Improvement. Nothing against Ryan Tannehill, but Manziel is just something else.
RB: Slight dropoff. Having Cyrus Gray this year would have made an already powerful offense just unfair. The fact that Brandon Williams and Tra Carson were ineligible left us with only three scholarship running backs.
WR: Improvement. Mike Evans surprised the hell out of me. He made us almost completely forget who Jeff Fuller was.
TE: Decline. Hutson Prioleau quitting the team didn't hurt as much as we thought it would, but he would have been nice to have in some of the jumbo packages.
OL: No change. Exact same line
DL: Significant improvement. Can't say enough about Damontre Moore, but you can't discount the significant impact that Spencer Nealy and Kirby Ennis had from the nose tackle position. This year, we were effective, but not very deep. Last year, we were neither deep nor effective.
LB: Significant improvement. The starters were all the same, but they played much better this year, especially against the pass.
CB: Significant improvement. Deshazor Everett is one of the unsung heroes of the secondary. He is almost a lock-down corner and is much more physical than we've seen in a while. Dustin Harris played much better now that he's not the starter and De'Vante Harris will be a star. First time since Slocum that corners aren't playing 15+ yards off the line of scrimmage. Again, need more depth.
S: Improvement. Steven Terrell has made the most of his starting opportunities now that he's no longer backing up the most ineffective safety we've had at A&M in my lifetime, Trent Hunter. Howard Matthews has grown in leaps and bounds and Toney Hurd has grown into his new role. Still not very deep and it shows late.
K: Significant decline. You don't just replace the Lou Groza winner, but you at least expect a kicker not to miss 10 or more PATs in a season. Bertolet needs serious work.
P: Improvement. Ryan Epperson has been a great weapon in special teams this year. His net punting average increased almost 10 yards per punt this season and allowed us to redshirt Drew Kaser.
Coaching: "Improvement" is not strong enough a word for how much different this coaching staff is from the previous staff. I'll just leave it at that.
