Texas is a great school academically, I just think some of these rankings intentionally jump the shark in order to separate themselves from other ranking makers. Of course, you can get a very education almost anywhere if you work hard at it.

Mad Dog and Beans was still open when I was there, but closed down before I graduated. Hated to see it go.

It was great. Also the burgers and bullshite at G&M Steakhouse. Did I remember that name correctly? I had a good friend who flipped burgers there while in school…

Since I'm a grad of #1, I guess I got the bragging rights.

Do you chant in the mirror, "we're 68"?

You're welcome, SEC, for us increasing the IQ of the conference.

Kicking out LSU would achieve that as well.

A&M became a diploma mill because the population of Texas CAN'T STOP, WON'T STOP

How some of y'all don't see this simple logic blows my mind.

Also, This state has two flagships. It's a fact at this point.

Yes, I know. Round Rock, Dripping Springs, Kyle, Buda, San Marcos, New Braunfels, etc. all used to be quaint small towns when I was growing up and in college, with separate identities. Now they all seem tied together in one big homogeneous suburb extending from Georgetown to San Antonio…

Have any of the newcomers discovered that it is as hot as frick in Texas 8 months out of the year?

Instead of growing so large, why didn’t aggy just send their surplus applicants away to attend other schools like Texas Tech out in godforsaken dust choked Lubbock??

Given all the Oil Money, it should honestly be ranked higher.

Looking at all the schools above us in this ranking, I feel like our undergrad programs are in pretty good company…

And honestly, I think that the powers that be have done a good job of keeping up the quality over the years, given how crazy Texas politics can be. It’s pretty hard for a Texas high school applicant to get into Texas these days, and the grad programs are very selective…

Never understood folks stroking their own ego over where their school ranks. In the end, it really doesn't matter so much when it's a state school; though it is nice to attend a well financed University.

This is all evidenced by the fact that the CEO of one of the most valuable companies in the world, and at times the most valuable company in the world did his undergrad at Auburn. Other CEOs of top 5 companies by valuation did their undergrad at powerhouse institutions like the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and Oregon State.

There are the Ivy's, a couple of schools like MIT, Carnegie Mellon and Stanford and then the rest.
