Seems like more & more big games being decided by the refs. With all the work it took auburn’s kids to get to that point, just not right.

Auburn had plenty of chances to end that game. They didn’t.

Make the free throw down the stretch and you don’t lose at the buzzer. Don’t blame refs.

Looked well officiated to me.

More money is on the line. ACC eyes on the championship game means more money. I'm sure the SEC gets the benefit of the doubt in football. It is what it is, but I agree with you.

Refs always screw up basketball games.

They’re the primary reason I don’t really get into it.

That's just how college basketball is. Hell, the NBA is like that. If the game was officiated properly, Duke would have been out in the round of 32.

Seems silly to insinuate the refs choked that game for money reasons, etc...they missed a basic middle school call then blew a whistle that refs swallow all the time. It was the right call so he'll be graded favorably, but it was a call rarely made.

Auburn could have won the game, etc...but it wasn't our night.

Bingo

I came to this realization a few years ago as to why I prefer other sports

Plenty of opportunities? They were down by ten with like 5 minutes left. Hell, there was a play where a UVA player physically grabbed an AU's player leg and held, no call. Luckily this board is an anomaly, the rest of the world seems to agree AU was robbed.

Regardless, it was a fun ride.

It wasn’t t the end. But overall they let them play which I loved. But ref calls are ref calls - if you want to eliminate them, then you better win so they aren’t a factor. We didn’t do that.

I don’t even think the refs do it on purpose.
It’s just the nature of the game to have arbitrary calls.

that was a clear foul on the 3

It was a clear double dribble that is called 99.99% of the time before that, ending the game.

The refs will always be major factor in basketball. It’s a quasi-contact sport, with a vague line between what’s allowed and what isn’t. Tons of gray areas and judgment calls.

Yup, basketball is wonky and a lot of players build their style around working fouls and refs. Hard to watch sometimes

Was that the refs fault too?

nobody is disputing that. It was a clear double dribble so UVa should not even have had that opportunity.
