Given how terrible Alabama was from 2000-2007, the fact we are on this list at all is pretty mind blowing when you stop and think about it.

Does 20 years and the advent of mass media coverage, financial investment, the BCS (i.e. an actual 1 vs. 2 championship game) etc. not seem relevant at all though? Maybe stretch back to the mid 90's when the SEC on CBS, college gameday and the BCS began? Anything prior to that seems insignificant in terms of judging the current and predicting the future.
