which should be determined by ONE team who won that conference playing the best representatives from the other major conferences.

The playoff shouldn't be about bias opinions polls inaccurately determining the 4 best teams.

All major conferences should have a stake in the playoff.

That's as jackassed backwards as it comes.

So Florida should go in front of Bama if they win this weekend?

100 percent.

If Bama cannot win their conference they shouldn't represent the conference in the playoffs.

Pretty straightforward.

Of course.

You think the #1 seed in the basketball tourney should advance if they lose to the 8 seed?

What do you think the chances are?

Why should Florida even show up for the game?

EXACTLY!

The crying and moaning is just Bama fans worried the rigged system is being repaired. Pitiful.

So you think a team shouldn't be allowed to play in the NCAA tournament if they don't win their conference tournament?

It's about the best team not the best conference.

Regardless I think most conferences may change their tiebreak to highest ranked instead of head to head.

your argument assumes all conferences are equal, which they are not. There are probably 3-4 SEC teams that could have won the Big 12 this year and 2-3 that could have won the Pac.

That's not what I assume at all. Even a weaker conference should have a representative in the playoff. If Bama cannot beat the representative from a weaker conference then Bama wasn't the best team.

Just stop with your retardness.

And yet all we heard before the CFP was formed was, "No other sport in the history of sports in the Universe has ever selected champions like this!!!1!!"

And then they appoint Condoleezza Rice to pick who's going to play for the college football national championship.

Division champions play for the conference championships, conference champions play for the national championship.

The only criticism I've seen of this is that "What if one team that didn't win their conference is better than another team that did?" which is easily dismissed due to the subjective nature of the statement. Apparently there are a LOT of people under the assumption that opinion polls are objective.

If conference championships are meaningless, than so is the national championship by the same criteria.

What's next from Bama fans?

At some point some Bama idiot will post something like:

"Do you really think any SEC team deserves a playoff spot over a Bama team with the most 5 stars recruits? Really?"

I mean, they'll use ANYTHING to justify their team's presence in the playoff every year! Crazy!

To try and win a conference title of course. That's what this game is about.

Comparing a 4 team college football playoff to the 68 team basketball tournament doesn't really work. It's fine to give the Cinderella story underdog conference champion an automatic spot in the a 68 team tournament in basketball with 30 something wild card spots, but not in a 4 team college football playoff.

Florida's blowout loss to a 9-3 FSU, blowout loss to a 7-5 Arkansas, and their loss to an 8-4 Tennessee team unequivocally should preclude them from the 4 team playoff to determine the best team in the country.

That is correct, hence a Tournament of Champions. Any other way would be subjective.

...and our current method is subject to the opinion of Condoleezza Rice. How is that, in any way, a more valid qualifying criterion than conference champions?

Why are the fans of the team with the most championships ever in the history of all humankind so scared of a tournament of champions? I think it would be FAR more likely that LSU would get left out in my scenario than Alabama. Yet Alabama fans are trying to accuse me of trying to rig a system against Alabama!
