WHAT? So Alabama's defense isn't as good as advertised because Arkansas wasn't ready?

You must have been responding to another poster, because I never said that.

Bama was all over them. But Arky and their new QB looked a little deer-in-the-headlight" ish.

I really didn't see that at all. I saw a team physically dominated by Alabama and a QB running for his life and taking his licks like a man.

I think Bama grinds Florida to dust by the the third or fourth quarter, but at the beginning of the season I said I could see the following scenario playing out.

Florida beats Bama during the regular season. Bama wins out and beats Florida in the Championship game. They get left out of the NC in favor of an undefeated Boise State. Boise State wins the NC and the world end in December 2012.

OK. Let's try this one. The game was closer than the score indicated.

It really wasn't. There was not one moment in that game where the end result was really in doubt. Arkansas was unable to get anything going. Even when they scored on that long pass play, the announcers were like,"Meh." The stop on the one yard line was nice, but that didn't really affect how anyone felt about how the game was going to end.

I think the total opposite.

14 points on special teams and 7 on a accidental tipped pass = 21. 38-21 = 17.

Like I said before, Bama looked good, but I thought it was a combination of things.

Let's just leave it at this. Watching the game didn't make me feel any better about having to go play there on Nov 5th. How's that?

I'm not looking for a compliment. A defensive score and 2 special teams scores are a good thing, IMO. It doesn't mean the rest of the team didn't play well.

Well then. How much did those crimson-colored glasses cost you?

If you think your offense played well, you better check your oil.

I can certainly see how looking at the stats would seem to indicate some to think Bama got lucky, and it was actually a close game. No one can depend on special team scores (though one wasn't really a special team play but an audible) or a pick six, but luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Teams like Alabama and LSU who are disciplined, talented, and aggressive make those plays. They get those "lucky" breaks more often than not. I'm of the opinion that if those lucky points didn't come from where they did, they would have come from somewhere else.

I never said Bama got lucky. Bama was the better team. But the pick 6 right after the goal line stand took a lot of the wind out of Arky. And the punt return knocked the rest out -- for good.

They knew that things had to go right for them to have a chance to win. But if things went a little wrong, they knew they were done.

You create your own breaks. Bama's D is so damn stout it sets up opportunities for picks 6s and special team plays. I think our D will be like that next year. We are a year away, but I look forward to what I think will be a classic.

Bama 19
Florida 13

And what's the problem with all that? You can say "LSU looked alright, but Oregon fumbled too many times and it really took the wind out of the Ducks' sails".

That's ignorant talk. Good teams make plays, you're too thick-skulled to comprehend that.

ETA: Let me add that WV could have won if Claiborne didn't return that kick.

Bama's defense is definitely a bear. But the pick 6 was a gift from Arky's QB.

Idk where the hell the injury rumors came from, but Muschamp has said a couple of times this week, that everyone is healthy, aside from Jeremy Brown (the CB that has the most experience in our secondary )

Doesn't matter. Every team we play will be mediocre until we play LSU.
