He's got the experience and certainly knows the recruiting territory well.

Why not? The players respond to him, we look like a completely different team now than we had under Maineri. I hope he turns our program around and we keep someone that actually cares about Carolina baseball.

Mainieri knows how to build a roster. What he doesn't know how to do is not be such an enormous dick that his players pucker up tighter than a snare drum. I suspect they are playing looser now.

He's got a long history at SC dating way back as an assistant before he went to Clemson and failed as a HC.

He is a decent recruiter.

I dunno. If he somehow manages to win enough of these remaining seven series to make Hoover ... who knows?

I'm kinda doubting it though. Donati wants to get rid of the Tanner hires and bring his own guts in, imho.

Unlike Tanner, Donati has a history of making exceptional hires.

Will Monte be kept on ... he'd have to make Hoover and advance to the finals imho.

Will Monte be kept on as part of the next stadf? That would be a slippery slope imho but maybe ... in some special capacity. He's got ten years under his belt in our dugout. And he's got a good relationship with a ton of HS coaches in SC and NC. He was at Clemson for eight years if I remember correctly. And C of C for six. So he's been recruiting this state and NC for almost 25 years. I wanna say he started out at Spartanburg Methodist too.

No.... I would at least hope not. He was fired from clemsux because he was not elite. He is a mediocre coach with a mediocre record.

He's 3-5 since he took over. Including a 9-1 loss to UNC. We've shown improvement to be sure, especially with a win over #2 Texas last night but that doesn't mean you give him the reigns.

Monte was fired at Clemson. His tenure there was a failure. If the baseball program is as serious as it says they are then they need to go out and hire a proven winner. The program needs an infusion of energy, and a splash coaching hire will do that. There is simply too much apathy around the baseball program right now.
