Gus had success in the SEC in the toughest division in the toughest league in the country. I think he banks the 21 million and the 11 mill from UCF and either bides his time or frankly enjoys some less stressful coaching. He's made his money for life. Anything further will be gravy.

With a rare exception these days, longer than 10 years as an SEC HC is pretty much impossible from a stress POV. Saban is a unique example that is the exception to the rule.

While recruiting gets harder, expectations are a lot lower at the smaller schools. It’s not like Gus is expected to win championships at UCF. He’s also going against much worse competition, so it all evens out.

Surely doesn’t hurt, but if he ever wants a high profile job again he’ll have to succeed at UCF

Not necessarily. Heupel's record declined for his three years at UCF and he landed at Tennessee. Well, maybe you're right after all.

That was an insanely good spot for Gus to land. UCF is just about the best case mid-major scenario for a coach, with maybe three or four other G5 jobs being in the same stratosphere. He should be pumped that he's going to dominate at that job and then trick another P5 job into hiring him because Auburn's "standards were too high and the SEC is too murderous" or some shite.

He doesn't need to recruit five star players to UCF. He can pull in 3* and the occasional 4* all day long and win the AAC. Florida and all the surrounding states are hot beds of talent.

And the GOAT-
Willie Taggart went from Oregon to Florida State to Florida Atlantic in under 4 years.

This was a lateral move at the time. It's decisively a downgrade since Bielema.
