Amazing

Kinda makes you throw up in your mouth. The Oxford liquor stores must be raking it in.

The beauty of the SEC - if Freeze wins 9 games with some of those being shockers he will be making $10 mill next year.

I am not criticizing anyone for making what they can. It is a free country and I know that coaches work for years to get to the top of the heap and it is very competitive and cutthroat. I am just amazed at how much it is and how quickly it continues to rise. If nothing changes it will be over 20 million in another 10 years for the top coach.

Things could change though now that schools are trying to find money for the players.

I believe that was second to the B1G's $880 M.
It is and the difference will only grow wider.

Something smells fishy about this. The B1G doled out $60.5M per school and, as noted above, their total revenue wasn't much higher. How fat are the cats in B'ham getting?
It's the South. Something fishy is always going on.

This is ridiculous for the results and even the expectations of the fanbase.

Kirby Smart $13,000,000
Steve Sarkisian $10,300,000 OVERPAID
Kalen DeBoer $10,000,000 OVERPAID
Brian Kelly $9,975,000 OVERPAID
Mark Stoops $9,013,600
Lane Kiffin $9,000,000
Eliah Drinkwitz $9,000,000 OVERPAID
Josh Heupel $9,000,000 OVERPAID
Brent Venables $8,150,000
Billy Napier $7,300,000
Mike Elko $7,000,000
Hugh Freeze $6,500,000 UNDERPAID
Shane Beamer $6,375,000 OVERPAID
Sam Pittman $6,200,000 OVERPAID
Jeff Lebby $4,510,000
Clark Lea $3,051,881 UNDERPAID

Before you all get bent out of shape, overpaid does not = a bad coach. Sark, Kelly, and Deboer are good coaches, but I think they are overpaid based on their track record so far. If they win an NC or two, then what? You raise them to even crazier levels? Reverse that for Freeze. He has a decent track record, but he's still paying for that Ole Miss fallout.

Stoops and Kiffin, I almost put as overpaid, and in many markets they would be versus their results. However, for Stoops, you have to consider it's Kentucky. So I guess that's about right. For Kiffin, he hasn't really done anything great, but it's Ole Miss. That's what they feel like they have to do to keep him from jumping to a real school. So I guess it makes sense.

Venables seems overpaid, but I guess that's what OU thought it would take since he had passed so many HC jobs in the past.

Elko, who knows. I guess that's a decent number, but you would have to think they could have gotten him for less.

I almost put Lebby as overpaid too. He's almost bottom of the pile, but I don't know why he deserves even that much. 0 HC experience. Strange.

Anyone who coaches Vanderbilt, for any amount, is underpaid.

In reality, this should be sobering to everyone in the sense that more money means your money is worth less....as in worthless.
