It’s silly.

Market rate gets you 6 million for mediocre results.

Bargain bin Billy making 7.3 mill per year to have losing seasons. I can do that for half as much.

I think everybody is in agreement the salaries are outrageous, but what’s going to stop them? Football is still king in the sports world and everybody is chasing that national championship, hoping their coach is the next Nick Saban who’s gonna deliver multiple trophies to the school.

Jimbo’s first contract in 2017 was 7.5 mil a year which was a huge deal at the time for taking a previous national championship winning coach, making him one of the highest paid guys at the time. Now here we are 6-7 years later and paying Elko 7 a year has him in the bottom half of sec salaries.

In 2000, three coaches total made $1 million+...Bowden, Spurrier, and Saban.

It's the buyout clauses I take issue with. Paying someone generational wealth to leave after sucking arse is just ridiculous and almost offensive.

Actually, 4 mil was his initial contract before he ever won a game. And we were considered crazy for paying it.

If Elko gets 10 wins he will rocket up this list. It’s what we do. ????

I don’t follow it as close as I once did. IF they move to where I need 3 streaming plans and cable to watch the games, I’ll just watch the ones on the channels I already pay for.

They will likely move to some hybrid model of streaming soon.

Nick Saban was the highest paid coach and he said frick it, not worth it.

It's a high pressure job with endless hours, constant public scrutiny and fanbases that only cares about what you've done for me lately - if that.

I would like to see Alabama also start paying assistant coaches more, especially OC/DC.

I don't like coaches making what they do, but I don't blame them for taking the money. Ultimately, outrageous coach pay is what led to players getting paid...dont blame them for taking the money either. I hope the best days aren't behind us.
