There is an insane amount of arch hype going around, on top of fox wanting to bring in as much rating money as possible.
Regardless, Texas is definitely a top team in the country.
The only thing that makes me question the list has more to do with so many new QBs with little to no starting experience. As a fan, that would make me nervous
Looks like you should be nervous because Kelly is the LSU HC.

Won't have to wait for the Oklahoma game. We'll know what Texas has by 3:00pm August 30th.

Yeah .... welcome to the SEC. That's the rule in this league every season.
Not always but most of the time yes. No one talks about the 2019 LSU defense.
But no doubt this league built a reputation on smash mouth football and it’s one of the many reasons I love it.

would bet a lot that if you took the last 15 preseason polls, and located where Texas is, that probably 14 or so of those 15 polls they finished the season below where there preseason rank was.
quote:Once. And that was 15 years and 3 head coaches ago. They started No. 4 in the coaches poll last year and finished No. 3
How many times in the last 15 years has Texas been a preseason Top 10 team, and then finished far below their preseason rank?
Dude you are so triggered over Texas being ranked where they are in this coaches poll

Always. Always. That's always the rule in the SEC. There may not always be more than one or two teams with truly superb defenses ... but usually half the league has outstanding defenses, sometimes more.
And you're 100% correct. That 2019 LSU Defense was incredible. I wanna say more than half of those starters are still in the NFL today. Their secondary was insane that year.
There have been some incredible SEC Defenses over the past 35-40 seasons ... usually one or two stellar defenses per season.

Not really sure why the Vols are even in the top 25 honestly

OU outside of the Top 25 is crazy.
So is Texas at 1. I see Texas finishing top 5, but too many questions offensively to be 1 overall.
I think the defense will carry us into the top 5.

Clemson playing 3 top 25 teams if a real step up for them. Too bad LSU is trash.

Texas is the best team that will never win a natty. The team that no one is high enough on is ole miss. Offense is always highly productive, but this year that defense will be nasty!! Still hoping LSU can make playoff this year but first game will be a hard game to win.

Surprised OSU got so many first place votes, I assumed they would be more evenly split between Texas and PSU.
LSU should be ahead of gumps, OR, ND and UGA. Those teams all have question marks at QB. Dont care if Clemson is above, that gets settled in a couple weeks
Miami feels 5-6 spots too high, and ASU should be in the 20s. Michigan is way too high, true freshman QB, no weapons, and they lost a ton of elite talent on defense. They shouldn't be ranked if teams like OU, Missouri, and USCw arent ranked.
USCe, Ole Miss and Tennessee all seem too high. I would bet OU, TAMU, and Missouri are all going to have better seasons

In year 2 of us being in an already brutal SEC:
Texas plays the reigning national champion in game 1.
Oklahoma plays the previous year's national champion in game 2.
Are people trying to kill us dead?

Michigan is a great team to get to play this year. Big brand, not nearly as good as people think they are. Will be a nice easy resume piece for yall

lol, every year’s with you guys. You’re going to lose 4 games again. It’s what BK does.

Illinois doesn't play Michigan, Oregon and Penn State. Illinois is ranked higher than Michigan...
