“Worth noting that Gordie Ernst, the tennis coach accused of taking multiple six-figure cash bribes to admit fake recruits, resigned without explanation from Georgetown last summer. Now he's coaching at Rhode Island.”

How dumb is the kid and parents to pay $6.5million to bribe them into college when all you had to do is make a charitable gift to the school... No college is turning down $6.5 mill to take junior no matter how big a dumbass.

I always had so much respect for Ivy league athletes and now not so much. Still better than most.

Why is this a reason to hate the FBI (other than the need to parrot Trump at every opportunity)?

You can still respect the actual athletes. These are kids who likely never wore a uniform, were just being done a “favor” by the coach who their parents had paid off.

It involves the exchange of big money for fraudulent purposes. Falls under bribery and racketeering

I didn't say anything about Trump, so you should probably hush or everyone will see your bias. This is an FBI investigation so who else should I criticize if I take issue with it?
It's OK for you not to answer as it is a rhetorical question.

Let’s try this again, why does the investigation occurring out of the Boston office of the FBI make you hate the FBI? Why is that evidence of corruption? Would it be better if it was the Anchorage office? Charlotte? The new big office that they are putting together in Huntsville?

Oh I am just yapping. I am sure they are better than the average student athlete, and there are probably only a few on each team.

shite I got excited. The way Bilas was squirming and turning red Saturday morning before talking about his son has me suspicious.

Why is that?
I actually didn't to be fair.
They get in on lesser standards than the regular students, and even when they are there, the school steers them to "easier" majors.
You think any of Upenn's basketball team are in Wharton?
Hell no. And you think that coach is allowing them to take regular business classes/be at Wharton? frick no that interferes with their sports schedule.
It's my understanding is they let these kids into the school and basically hide them. Now I'm not sure about the lesser sports, but I'm certain that's true for football or Basketball. Especially when the school gets a great pay day from getting into the NCAA tourney.
Now they aren't exactly idiots, who get 800s on their SATs.

This is UNC academic scandal level, maybe even bigger.

My Brother played FB @ Penn and graduated from Wharton.
Yea,there were kids who got admitted that wouldn't have without FB or basketball skills but he was not told or steered toward an "easier" major.

ahh gotcha my cousin went to Harvard to play football.
He was 3.5 1200 SAT, (ie Not good enough for Harvard) the coach told him it would be best if he majored in Sociology or English and not try and do something like Economics.
ETA: now funny enough he works at a hedgefund with an English major from Harvard.
Basically they didn't even care he wasn't a business major.

What's wrong with taking issue to this?
This is admitting people into Universities fraudulently.
That's a pretty big deal.
