Think Saban is on his way to passing him.
I believe that is what drives Coach Saban to be the best but he still got a little bit of work to do to pass Coach Bryant.

Bryant won an SEC football title at UK. Saban is good, but he only has 1 undefeated season (2009) in 20 yrs of coaching.
Bryant won 6 titles on the field and was cheated out of another in 1966 due to politics and civil rights pressure on voters. Finished #3, only undefeated team. #1 and #2 played to a tie, #3 BAMA beat #6 Neb 34-7 in the Sugar Bowl. Would have been a 3-peat. ND played for a tie and was awarded the title. Before he retired Bryant said this was his best team. Vince Lombardi was asked after winning the Super Bowl how it felt to have the world's greatest team and he said "I don't know, we haven't played Alabama yet."
Could also make a case for another title in 1977. We beat #9 Ohio State 35-6 in the Sugar Bowl. We were #3 and Notre Dame was #5 going into the bowls. Notre Dame beat #1 Texas and jumped from #5 to #1 to end the year. Texas and #2 OU lost their bowls. BAMA and ND had one common opponent, Ole Miss. BAMA beat Ole Miss 34-13, and ND lost to Ole Miss 13-20. We won titles in 1978 and 1979, so 1977 would have been the second 3-peat we've been cheated out of.

- He had 4 undefeated teams and a 78% win rate.

Bryant only had 3 undefeated team. 1961, 1966, and 1979 at Bama. Had no losses but did have a tie in 1956 at A&M.
