It’s like this dude doesn’t realize the asteroid didn’t kill everything on earth and there were, in fact, a lot of species that managed to adapt

It’s more about weird fans fawning over very generic and repackaged coach speak. It’s not just Bama fans, trust me.
I understand what you're saying.
I'm assuming you have interests other than sports. Let's say space.
If Elon Musk was giving a speech about interstellar travel, would you be interested in what he says? What if he was just talking about what we already know, but giving his particular take on it?
Sometimes it's interesting to hear people at the top of their field, and maybe glean knowledge or insight into who they are and how they operate.
Sometimes their words are inconsequential, and sometimes what they say can give you an interesting window into what makes them different.
We're all fans of something, and the people who rise to the top of those fields are more interesting than those who don't.

He’s the best of all time. And when you hear him talk football you aren’t surprised by that at all.

Bill Gates, Tim Cook, and Jeff Bezos have all accomplished a ton. So has Nick Saban. I acknowledge that. Why should I fanboy out about anything they have to say?
Because no one has anything that didn't come from someone else. Coach Saban didn't get that smart on his own, nor shall anyone else.

Just depends on what fossils you are taking the time to collect. Can't dig them all up.

When the asteroid hit the dinosaurs, they didn’t know it was coming. Sabah is an idiot and Wild Bill wins again!
Before the asteroid, dinosaurs were already in trouble. In the 10 million or so years beforehand, their number of species had already almost halved.
And again, the asteroid did not hit the dinosaurs.
It presumably affected all life on earth in the same way.
Some dinosaurs adapted and evolved. Perhaps into birds.
Those that did not died, just like half of their species did before it ever even impacted the planet.

Obviously. Coach Saban may go down as THE greatest coach of all time - of any sport. He's a legend among legends
No other living cfb coach has even half as many titles as him

The entertainment factor should be off the charts. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

Nick very much understands he isn't the smartest man in the room and he is out looking for that person(s) so he can learn from him.

Well, maybe not the smartest man on every subject but:
I loved the Apollo 13 movie. Houston had a roomful of smart guys who each knew every inch of that spacecraft. But always different parts. But the smartest guy in the room was Nasa's flight director, the guy with the white vest running the show. He had to figure how to get the best answered from those nerds and what would work to get those guys home.
Coach Saban = Nasa Flight Director

Oh brother.
"Coach Leach, how do you feel about your QB situation coming into this season?"
"Well, the guys are working hard and competing, it's a competitive league, it's why I came here, see?"
"HAHAHAHA CLASSIC MIKE LEACH!!"
