"Coach, I can throw the fade..."

It was nothing more that a simple "fade route". But the Gamecocks are the first team to score an offensive touchdown on UGA's defense this year. Yes, we got our buts whooped the rest of the game, but there were lots of implications for Gamecock fans with that one little pass.

What's ironic about it, is SC's TE coach is former USC QB Erik Kimrey. He was in the booth with SC offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. Who is Erik Kimery? Maybe we should ask the MSU fans (Sorry, State fans).
Erik was responsible for one of the most iconic plays in SC history. On a team that was coming our of an 0-11 season in 1999, the Gamecocks were showing signs of life in 2000. Until their starting QB goes down in the 4th Qtr vs MSU. That's when a former walk-on on backup QB on the bench goes to Coach Lou Holtz and says "Coach, I can throw the fade..." And the rest is history. It's worth the watch even if you're not a gamecock fan.
There a great documentary on it called The Fade
UGA fans will say it was garbage time. They'll same the game was no longer in doubt. It's ok. That 1 play gives Gamecock fans 1 thing.

Yea, y’all scored the first TD of the season against our defensive. Congrats, I guess. Now you get to look forward to rooting for your team to squeak into a bowl game

And to think we could've only lost 35-16. We gifted UGA 5 points and then went for a 4th down late in the game where Parker would've nailed the FG.

Y'all had a few players that played to the echo of the whistle the entire game, despite the fact that it was clear early on that this was going to be no match. That's coaching.
However, none of those players were offensive lineman. Wow, I have never seen an OL try less.

To be fair, the throw actually wasn't bad (see below) - the call to throw the fade was indefensible. You had 6' 1" 199 lb Kobe Hudson going up against Jaquan Brisker who is virtually identical in size (6' 1" 200 lbs). You're looking for a MIS-match...not a MATCH...
Oh AND YOU ALSO HAVE TWO TOP 5 RBS IN THE SEC AT YOUR DISPOSAL TO GAIN A TOTAL OF 2 1/2 YARDS TO THE GOAL LINE...FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, TANK IS IN THE CONVERSATION FOR THE BEST RB IN THE DAMN NATION!!!

I agree with that, I think the coaches tried to out smart everyone and failed. If they hand it to Bigsby there is a great chance we are playing in OT with a chance to win it.
I posted that mainly for laughs, it has been that kind of weekend.
