Why? Because I am making some valid points about your team that you would rather not admit? If Clowney was not worried about the fact that he will never play for a national title at USC or get the recognition he deserves at USC, he would have already committed to USC since he clearly wants to be close to home.

I live in the great state of South Carolina. I was born in Louisiana and follow LSU football with a passion.

USC fans are passionate about their program. They are just tired of losing. Pinning their hopes on one player that may or may not help them get over the top is typical of all SEC schools.

Clowney, although great in 2 A football, was held in check by Collins at the UA All American game. That said, Clowney will be facing the best O-lines in the country and he will not be as dominate as USC or anyone thinks.

If he goes to Clemson then he could dominate since the ACC is not a strong conference.

In the SEC, he will be good but he will not play like he did on his youtube highlight reel.

And before that, what were they doing?

Before 1991, Florida didn't have a single SEC Championship to their name. Florida State finished in the top 5 for over 10 years straight. They have one 10 win season in the last 10 seasons.

Things change man. If you can't grasp that fact, then idk what to tell you.

Well, you can trace the rise in power of the Florida schools to an increase in population, especially after the 1970s. Until the stae of South Carolina has a talent base as deep as that, the argument is a moot point.

This is basically like the Trevor Lacey deal with UK/UA.

He goes to UK if he wants a bigger name. However, he can be ALL-SEC but maybe not all American at UA due to guys from UNC/Duke/Syracuse/Kansas.

Lacey likes 'Bama but it is hard to turn down a better culture then UK basketball.

Clowney likes USC but it is hard to turn down a better culture then UA Football.

ETA: Good luck to whoever gets him.

This. Any USC fan who can't understand why Bama is still in the picture is delusional. There are things that Bama can offer him that USC will never be able to.

"Things change" is not much of an argument when you say that and point to Florida and Oregon (USC is not going to get tens or hundreds of millions from Phil Knight and they are not going to become the name school in Florida).

Especially because I was pointing out that the Florida schools have become absolute monsters in college football... no other state in the country is close to as dominant

And again - it is because those schools now have an innate advantage with the state of Florida football giving good programs the opportunity for national success

My point was USC has some opportunity for success but they are swimming upstream while the Florida's and UGAs can paddle with the current. USC is not the name school in South Carolina and they don't have the same innate advantages in recruiting and facilities as say Florida and Oregon

There aren't too many schools who can march the facilities at UF and Oregon

A handfull in the SEC do actually. And as not to turn this into a pissing match, I would like to say I wish Alabama would put money into a baseball facility like USCe has. We put everything into football.

according to GoGamecocks and Phil Kornblut

quote:
A source close to South Pointe DE Jadeveon Clowney of South Pointe said Thursday night Clowney has basically made his decision but is not 100% there yet. The source said Clowney knows where he wants to go but is still checking on things to make absolutely sure.

The source said Clowney doesn't want a repeat of what OL Cyrus Kouandjio went thru on Signing Day. Kouandjio announced a commitment to Auburn on ESPNU but has yet to sign with the Tigers after having second thoughts.

Clowney's coach Bobby Carroll has said in recent weeks he beleives Clowney has been favoring USC. A second source said Thursday night that that remains the case.

taken from the website. I wish he'd hurry the f*ck up with it

Clowney is your to lose. Much as i hate to lose him,i'd rather lose him to your school, than any other school in the conference. I think we have a small shot, but it seems to be shrinking. Best of luck to him wherever he goes,he is a game changer

USC shares the division with two programs with innate advantages over them (Florida and UGA)... in terms of recruiting especially

Some will argue the facilities and history of Tenn also put them ahead of South Carolina and that's probably true as well (maybe not if they didn't share the state with Clemson - but they do so UT is the better program to win in the future IMO)...

This is just the nature of the SEC - if you are not one of the monster programs you are going to have a tougher time

We'll probably never pass Florida in population, but ours is on the rise as well. Our state has been putting out stud football players for years. Most people don't recognize this because they tend to go out of state. We've finally started being able to keep some of them home, but too many of them go out of state or go to waste at Clemson. Spurrier is changing it that.

How many people do you think know that Lawrence Timmons is from South Carolina? Derrick Burgess? Justin Durant? Shaun Ellis? Roddy White? Richard Seymour? Maurice Morris?

These are all solid guys who are having good careers in the league that very few, if any people know as being from South Carolina. Why? None of them played college football in South Carolina.

This doesn't even mention elite guys of the last few years that have left the state such as Carlos Dunlap, AJ Green, Robert Quinn, Bruce Taylor, and Sam Montgomery.

Obviously it has grown in terms of population, and thus football talent. However, it's still not even as deep as Georgia, Louisiana, or Alabama. And of course not Florida or Texas.

Before Alabama signed Chris Bonds and John Fulton from the state of South Carolina, I can't tell you the last guys UA got from there. I think Coach Saban thinks highly of the state's talent, and knows the difficulties of trying to land talent from there, considering he hired two coaches from Clemson's staff to recruit the state.

But to say this state doesn't have it's fair share of talent is plain ignorant.

Then again some Alabama fans seem to think we are South Carolina State and not a SEC school. I mean for christ's sake all 14 of our games this season were aired on tv and we are a member of the best football conference in the nation. Just because ESPN would rather yap their trap about Favre's dick pics or Rex Ryan's foot loving, doesn't mean that our players aren't good. Clowney will do just fine wherever he goes and will be in the NFL in 3-4 years.

No one said that.

No one said that either, but considering USCe's total history, you're not going to get much respect from people after a 9-5 season is one of your best ever.

Well if Alabama fans hadn't started the whole "BUT HE WON'T GET HIS RECOGNITIONZZZZ!!!1!!!1!111!" charade it would have, but some of your fellow fans like to beat their chests for no reason.
