And as for the SEC East as a whole, until last year, no one but UT, UF, or UGa had won the division. Until USCe does it again, it's going to be considered a lucky year for them to have won it. You don't build a legacy in one season.

If you don't know the names of the good players from a school in your own conference then you are willful ignorant (unless it's Vandy in which case you're excused).

SEC fans know the names of the best SEC players, but I'm talking nationally. Alshon Jeffery was an absolutely dominant WR last year, but the only names anyone heard on ESPN were Julio Jones and AJ Green because they attend major schools. USC is not a national name and it's players will never receive the promotion that they would receive on regular title contenders.

Nobody said anything about a legacy. All we want is to get Clowney and consistently go to the SECCG.

Things do change in college football, you know this right?

30 years ago Oregon wasn't doing shite on the national level. They played for a National Title this year.

Oregon didn't have a bazillion dollars from Phil Knight 30 years ago

The Florida schools have won 10 of the last 30 championships in college football (miami 5, florida 3, fsu 2) because of their in state advantages providing opportunity for superior coaches/recruiters

Those are program advantages creating opportunity.

USC is probably the little brother program of South Carolina and competes against UGA and Florida programs with better in house recruiting... you guys should be better than KY and Vandy year in and year out... but worse than at least Florida and UGA 4 years out of 5 IMO

You're right. Lattimore and Alshon both should have gone to Bama/LSU so they could've played in the SECCG this year. Oh, wait...

oh wait is right...how many plays did Lattimore get in before he was knocked out?

Alshon played good but Garcia is so unpredictable. Awesome vs Alabama and then terrible vs Kentucky.

If you're not playing for national championships, then why in the frick are you playing?

That's the kinda shite that separates elite programs from below average ones. Alabama, LSU, etc. EXPECT to compete for the national championship on a year to year basis. South Carolina just wants to sign a badass and go to Atlanta every now and then.

That's a media issue, not our problem.

Besides, scouts know who is good and who isn't. I doubt elite players give a shite if the media likes or talks about them as long as they do work and get drafted, they could give a frick about the media.

Obviously we want a NC. Lots of them. Things have to happen before we can do that and I'm just recognizing the direction we are headed in. Those things are slowly starting to happen.

Either way we get Clowney.

Lot of "elite" players enjoy the media spotlight

It is the absolute truth. USCe players can have great success, but they don't get the same recognition as players on top 10 level teams.

Jadeveon Clowney is bigger than anything his home state school can offer him and he needs to go big time.

And before that, what were they doing?

Before 1991, Florida didn't have a single SEC Championship to their name. Florida State finished in the top 5 for over 10 years straight. They have one 10 win season in the last 10 seasons.

Things change man. If you can't grasp that fact, then idk what to tell you.

This is basically like the Trevor Lacey deal with UK/UA.

He goes to UK if he wants a bigger name. However, he can be ALL-SEC but maybe not all American at UA due to guys from UNC/Duke/Syracuse/Kansas.

Lacey likes 'Bama but it is hard to turn down a better culture then UK basketball.

Clowney likes USC but it is hard to turn down a better culture then UA Football.

ETA: Good luck to whoever gets him.

And Jadeveon Clowney is going to tell USCe the same thing.....not my problem that you guys can't put me on the national level that Alabama can.

Before last season, we had more Heisman winners than Alabama. Seems our individual studs were doing just find for themselves.
