The playoff is only in its 5th year and Clemson has finished with a top 5 SOS each of the last 3 years.
The ACC was 10-4 head to head against the SEC the year we won the natty.

To be fair, Bama chose to have their semifinal game in Miami due to Dallas’ proximity to Oklahoma. The committee chose the rankings, but Bama had choice of site.

You’re right. Thank god we avoided that powerhouse ACC team from UVA this year. The way they beat down SCar...they are probably better than every SEC team in the east.

That’s been the conventional wisdom on this site all season but seems the ACC has a better bowl record to date than the SEC including head to head so I’m not going to “own it” until an SEC team proves it on the field. aTm is on the clock.- don’t choke against NC St.
