Regardless of how the NC game plays out, you can't blame outsiders for favoring LSU and/or giving them more respect.

Who has LSU beaten that is better than Clemson? I think Clemson is legitimately the third best team in the country after LSU and Ohio State

Reading comprehension is your friend. OP stated LSU has beaten better teams and should be recognized for it.

Your defense was better than OSU’s. They’d keep it a one score game.

Bama and Georgia are better. Florida and Auburn are on par.

Let's be real, Clemson caught some major breaks in the their game with tOSU and OSU shot themselves in the foot on multiple occasions.

Well, to start with, I think the beasts on the Auburn D-line would break pretty-boy Trevor in half. Take his running game away and Clemson wouldn't have been able to rally at all against the LuckEyes.

Given how OSU exposed Clemson's defensive vulnerability in the short-to-midrange game, I think Bama would have feasted on them this year. If Tua was healthy, quick slants would have destroyed Clemson. And after watching what the OSU running back did to them, Najee Harris would have gone full Abrams Tank on Clemson.

I even think that Florida would have a legit shot at taking them out.

Just my two pennies worth, but I'm not sure Clemson's "all that" right now. They very well may beat LSU in this game (any given Saturday, right?).

Obvious troll is obvious, but I'll bite anyway. Based strictly on strength of schedule, compare who the two teams have beaten (ranked at the end of the regular season):

LSU
#9 Florida, 42-28
#12 Auburn, 23-20
#13 Alabama, 46-41 (in Tuskalooser)
#15 Georgia, 37-10 (in Atlanta, virtual home game for Georgia).
#4 Oklahoma, 63-28

Clemson
#24 Virginia, 62-17
#2 Ohio State, 29-23

Not sure what comparison you think you're making, but you might want to get your classes checked.

LSU hasn't played a team with an offense and defense all year. The few good teams they played were one sided and the other side of the ball bailed LSU out.

LSU didn't have the defense to stop Bama's offense or the offense to walk over Auburn's defense. Clemson has the #1 rated pass efficiency defense in the nation and an offense.

This is true, but Clemson just beat a great Ohio state team, Clemson is a very good team and the championship can go either way.

This is the laziest analysis I've ever seen. Giving up the short stuff to OSU was by design, Einstein. And it's funny you bring up Bama because it's the same scheme we ran against them in the natty. Don't give up the big plays over the top, restrict them to the short stuff, and clamp down in the RZ. When a team is forced to dink and dunk you down the field all night, they eventually make mistakes. We are 2nd nationally in interceptions and 5th in turnover margin. And if they don't make a mistake, then you hold them to FGs inside the 20. Bama got 400+ yards against this scheme last year, 16 points. OSU got 500+ yards, 23 points.

Fields threw 1 int all year. He had two Saturday night. We also dropped 2 picks, one of which would have went for 6.

LSU may win this game, but they are going to have to do it methodically and mistake free. You have the best redzone offense in the nation, we have the best redzone D in the nation. Also the best passing D in the nation. How you convert in the RZ will ultimately decide this game.

I'm also tempted to downvote you strictly because you think Florida could beat us. I won't bother, but I will encourage you to seek help.

I've never said anything different (unless I'm flame-baiting a troll). Just making my own observation to the original post, and I stick by them.

I disagree. LSU isn't just a "red-zone team". They can - and regularly do - put the ball in the endzone on long strikes. Unlike teams of the past, THIS team has a QB that can put the ball through a mosquito's nostril at 50 yards, receivers that can go up through three defenders to pull down an otherwise uncatchable ball (you saw that on full display against OU), and an NFL-caliber passing coordinator that was drawing up plays for Drew Brees and the Saints!

The REAL Tigers can strike from anywhere on the field with that personnel - and I'm not even including our TE and our RB in that mix....

I'm not saying that Clemson doesn't have a good defense - they do, but I like our chances. And, to be honest, this won't be LSU's first dance with a "we've got the best defense you've ever seen" attention whore team:

Florida - "LSU is facing what may be the best defense in the nation"

Auburn - "This is the best defensive line LSU will see all year".

Bama - oh wait.....

Georgia - "Strength against Strength, best game of the year! LSU's #1 offense against the Georgia's #1 defense in the nation".

I've heard this song before - different singers, always the same ending. I expect this next game won't be any different.

So, go ahead and play LSU that way. "Contain" the big play by giving a lot of underneath stuff to Joe, Clyde, Moss and the Three Amigos. Pray for a red-zone stop. See what happens....

For reference, you might check the previous LSU games against teams with the "best defense" when they played to contain the big plays. Bad things end up happening, usually due to the fact that NO team has been able to stop Joe when he has three receivers, Thad Moss at TE and Clyde in the backfield. Someone is ALWAYS open. And, when they aren't, he turns into a fullback.

Those poor teams who flirted with "keeping everything in front of them" ended up giving Joe time to find an open receiver on a comeback route and pick them apart, or gave him the chance to run the ball for continuous first downs.

In other words, that might have worked against other teams, but probably won't work against LSU.

And before you think I'm just being arrogant, understand this: LSU fans know that, offensively, this team is lightning in a bottle - the likes of which we might not see again in a decade or two. Next year is next year, we don't know what it'll be like until we get there. But THIS year, we know what we have in our team.

I'd also like to reiterate something Joe Burrow said: "this is all business - we expected to be here, we expected to go to the NCG, and we expect to take home the trophy".

Hard work, attention to detail, trusting the coaches and their processes, not eating the "rat poison" (OMG LOL at Saban), and giving 100% focus to the next team up is what got them this far against the toughest schedule of any of the four playoff teams. It's been a successful strategy so far, and I believe it'll carry though to the last game as well.

Again, Clemson could win, but I seriously doubt they will. That's not arrogance, it's confidence, born of success and dedication - not entitlement, and not resting on the laurels of last year's victories.

I like our chances VERY much - and, so far, I have yet to see anything from Clemson to change my mind.

Yeah you do? Its called #1 seed and your path is easier. Not acc schedule easier. But still easier.

Figured old hands at the playoffs would understand this.

Clemson has put up great offensive numbers against average to below average defenses, facing only one top 30 defense, #30 Texas A&M. LSU faced 5 top 30 defenses, putting up great numbers and points all year. Both defenses played similar ranking offenses, so there’s not a lot that can be looked at there. I do think going into Bryant Denny and whipping an undefeated Bama, and winning at Texas, and home versus Florida and Auburn are light years better than any regular season Clemson win. No opposing team on LSU’s schedule had the ball in the 4th quarter with a chance to take a lead in any game. Clemson almost lost to North Carolina. The win versus Ohio State was impressive, but LSU dismantling Georgia in Atlanta and embarrassing Oklahoma were at least equally impressive. Any argument about what Clemson did in the past to Alabama is ridiculous, because those guys don’t play for y’all any more.

What Clemson did to Bama last year is not relevant, except that Bama was also “best ever”. I’d be interested to look at you SEC fans predictions before the NC last year. They were probably pretty similar to what’s being said now
